Big Elite Streamers Giving Up On Streaming Elite?

I also know that MFS threads on gaming forums like ResetEra and XboxEra have linked to QA's videos. Can't remember the last gaming thread on either of those forums for ED.

Space games are niche compared to RL air sims.

More people wanna be modern day pilots than spassmens.

Then along came Katie Byrne, another already well respected ED content creator trying her hand at Star Citizen as a player and simply recording her adventures, not reviewing...just playing. I was hooked from the first video as were many veteran SC players, some like me, who play and enjoy both games...some strictly SC players who were drawn in by Katie's infectious enthusiasm.

Content creators do what they do, there are some who've recently switched over from EDO to SC for 'reasons', some seem to have an agenda, some excuse to appear pithy or petulant with regard to EDO or FDev...Katie certainly isn't one of those...I could name the others but that's as equally pithy and childish ;)

@Katie Byrne, carry on doing what you do and I hope I can catch you sometime you're in game, I'm in there every day, usually EU servers ...watching you play is like seeing Star Citizen through more open and less jaded eyes than mine have become over the years. Respect :)

what is great with Katie and her buddies is that they are just trying to have fun and explore the opportunities offered with an open mind independent on what game it actually is. It is quite refreshing to watch their videos. They did as well some great content and had fun even with a still broken EDO, pointed out some of the flaws, but their goal was having fun and showing off what is possible. I agree with your assessment.

Yes! THIS! :) thank you both for watching first of all, and yeah we are just trying to have adventures and fun - like it's all new to us too so we spend a lot of time just marvelling at little details too but basically we just want to have fun with what we are playing

Sorry I genuinely am not up to speed with most influencers ... But I did see a video of a lass trying mining in SC for the 1st time a week or so ago... Would that have been her?
If so it was a v good video and I must say I was watching it with envious eyes wishing ED had mining like that. It was involved and looked fab.

haha yes that was me :)

And I have been very lucky to have some more experienced players to take me along and show me some of the sights - again, SC has limitations yes - and there are a TON of bugs (which i do not shy away from showing too) but it's something fresh and different and does not require grinding outside of maybe credits.

I'm not saying i'm done with ED for good, i may want to take up playing again in future absolutely - but right now, I'm just happy trying out SC. and NMS too actually, Kai Zen took me through the first couple of hours the other night to get me over the hurdle of not knowing what i'm doing and once the creative aspects of the game kicked in i was kinda hooked on that too :D

Play all the space games, or whatever ones you enjoy ;)

Amen to that :)

After watching your first SC video adventure...you even got me doing a box delivery mission, up until then I hadn't done a single one, not even when the box missions were first introduced during PTU a couple of years ago.

I wound all the org guys up with repeating "I've got an actual physical box...on the bed in my ship!" for half an hour...they were going to banish me from Discord chat until I shut up :D

ED had a head start of several years compared to MFS 2020. And I know which one is more serious for console support and cross play right now.
Well, you do realise that the company behind MFS (it's in the name!) has a slightly bigger budget and workforce dedicated to it than the one behind Elite, and indeed actually OWNS one of the big two consoles people play it on?

Aye. Between Asobo and the many other satellite studios working on FS2020, Microsoft have around 500 people developing the game.

500 people and they only managed one planet. They make even CiG look productive :)

Honestly, I'm all for this. When I came back from one of my hiatuses I remember checking out one or two of the videos from D2EA, and in doing so this video was "recommended for me". Like I told @Katie Byrne earlier, I'm not a big stream viewer so I haven't looked at this lady's channel since, but I seriously loved this video:

If you wish, but ignoring something I wrote, that was plainly evident to others in this thread kind of supports my point.

You can take it that way if you like.

Its more a case after seeing your replies i'm no longer interested in debating with you.

If that means you claim "victory" then you're welcome, i'll keep my opinion though if that's ok with you :p

If FDEV focused on core gameplay over the years, I''d bet ED streamers wouldn't be covering other games (which is the subject of this thread after all). Even now, ED is the only space game of its type, with a decent flight model, but poor design decisions throughout the years, and the Odyssey launch, have led some streamers to this point - regardless of what MS/Xbox have done with MFS.

Not arguing there - Frontier has dropped the ball repeatedly with the game. After six years of release, it really should be in a better place than it should be. I don't think its down to malice though, which a lot of people seem to infer. (Combination of small budget and incompetence is my assumption.)
