Thank you for the cool communication about the update. Like it and you can tell the dev team that they made great progress.
I've got some early feedback regarding performance in VR and the FSR feature. Hope you don't mind sharing it with the devs.
Got a Lonovo Explorer driven by a GTX 1070.
If FSR is enabled, even on ultra, the loss of quality is quite noticeable in VR. And with noticeable I mean not a bit, I mean you cant recognize text anymore at all. Like having to read the last line at the eye doctor without your glasses and 5+ dioptrine. So kind of not aly beneficial - at least in VR.
So I had to disable the option and fall back to Normal, since the option in Update 5 is not available anymore. The Update 5 option gave me at least some crisp image which was noticeable sharper than before I ever played. Now with update6 and the normal upscaling quality has decreased and I have the feeling that also FPS have decreased. At least there are also some additional situations where FPS just dropped to single digits which was not the case in update 5. (I was entering the ship in the hangar and then the performance in the cockpit dropped)
So all in all I'd say - sorry, but I'm not impressed. Maybe the devs should have one more look.
By the way as a general feedback: While FSR is sure a nice thing, I think It's a measure of last resort improving the frame rate when everything else has been done which is possible. When I compare the scene/effect complexity of Elite Dangerous and other games I need to recognize that there is quite something possible to being optimized. FSR is just basically getting the performance by
not rendering the game at the intended resolution and using advanced upscale technology to hide that.
