I did a little more testing with the new AMD SS thingy.
So we have 3 mode ( would be 4 except one Balanced is not selectable ).
Only Ultra Quality looks any good at all.
But even on Ultra Quality it looks worse than turning it off completely and using native.
As for performance, at a settlement:
- 'normal' native: 22-24 FPS sometimes dropping to mid teens.
- 'Ultra Quality' 20-22 FPS sometimes dropping to low teens.
So basically, we have less control that we did in the previous update, it looks worse and doesn't improve my frame rate. It's a step backwards.
Having said all that AMD's supersampling is not a solution to a badly optimised renderer,
I'm only trying to get acceptable frame rates at 1080p on the recommended GPU ( GTX 1060 )
Obviously no issues with frames on the ground in Horizons.
If I want pretty graphics and some good first person shooting fun I'll stick to Doom Eternal or Cyperpunk, both look and run a lot better than Odyssey.
