Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 6

To be honest I don't think the visual radius has matched the percentage particularly well for a while.
50% looked like about a third of the planet. maybe its closer now

just did some testing 50% is now half the planet... so maybe they have increased the range but it is registering ok

I did a little more testing with the new AMD SS thingy.
So we have 3 mode ( would be 4 except one Balanced is not selectable ).
Only Ultra Quality looks any good at all.
But even on Ultra Quality it looks worse than turning it off completely and using native.
As for performance, at a settlement:
  • 'normal' native: 22-24 FPS sometimes dropping to mid teens.
  • 'Ultra Quality' 20-22 FPS sometimes dropping to low teens.
So basically, we have less control that we did in the previous update, it looks worse and doesn't improve my frame rate. It's a step backwards.

Having said all that AMD's supersampling is not a solution to a badly optimised renderer,

I'm only trying to get acceptable frame rates at 1080p on the recommended GPU ( GTX 1060 )
Obviously no issues with frames on the ground in Horizons.

If I want pretty graphics and some good first person shooting fun I'll stick to Doom Eternal or Cyperpunk, both look and run a lot better than Odyssey.

..... I'm very aware I'm doing something illegal as I'm cutting all the locks inside the CMD building of the settlement where I've just killed 18 people.

But I learned my lesson quick after picking up the wrong thing in front of a guard so I have a question?

Are there really that many coked up Chihuahua's out there that click on everything so fast that this actually had to be done?

Edit: Spelling

That is supposed to be the case. Ultra Quality is SS<1.

Doubt it. FSR will always be faster than native. Test it more empirically and you'll see.

FSR looks better than native downsampling at comparable rates, and runs better than native. This is not some FD invention, FSR is open source. We know how it works and what it does.

In any case FSR is not really aimed at 1080p anyway, it's too low for such techniques to really shine.

you sir have the patience of a saint

I have been noticing that Settlement Raids have not been working correctly for me. Out of two raids, both have had the problem where I can't find the last Scavenger. I hope this is isolated or easily fixed.
Have you tried looking underground/in walls ? I ask because that's where they usually hide, found one today in fact buried up to his waist behind some containers (slippery little devil). On a more serious note 99% chance it's just another bug that's appeared, as for being fixed well don't hold your breath.

I'm confused. I watched a video before, in order to use amd fsr on an amd card some guy installed the amd driver then enabled fsr, before enabling in game.

How do we turn it on for nvidia cards.

Is there a download required for nvidia gpus.

It works with my RTX2060 and I didn't installed anything specific.

....game logs are bugged. Just sold Opinion Polls to bartender. It still prints out I have 9 to log, however, I had 10 and sold 10. It was not even registered somehow.
Oh..or better to say it stopped to print to log, missing about latest game hour anywhere...

Weird, I seem to see an improvement in stations but not st settlements. Gpu using 40% and cpu using 17% not using all of gpu at settlements but it does in stations.

I'm on a 2080ti

Do you see good performance at settlements at 4k
Yes, until no ship traffic. If settlement has flying NPC ships (at least I think so, can't see any other reason - always a ship in view when fps drops), it drops to 1 digit fps. I play at 1080p 2060 card.
