Does Anti-Aliasing actually do anything?

Don't know about you, but earlier I was fiddling with my settings, and got rid of some horrible pixels I had on the outlines of ships and avatars.

Got things looking even prettier now!

I can't get rid of them either but start to think it might be down to having a 1080p monitor only. The picture is quick and dirty (red circles mark the worst bits). It#s OKish in this still image, but if you move it looks awful.

I don't remember any other game with anti-aliasing as bad as in ED. And I agree, there's almost no visible difference between the AA variants offered.

This is also why FSR doesn't work properly. But maybe that's a good thing, because it forces FDev to actually optimize the renderer instead of relying on upscaling.

lets hope both will be possible. Hopefully we will see actually AA at some point cuz this rn is nonesense.

Edit:
Somehow due to these "Stairs" also lighting sometimes looks REALLY REALLY bad

I'm currently flying my Krait a lot.. and regardless of AA setting, it's really annoying me :p

The left side of the cockpit shimmers, the right side has a cable and "something" but as a result, it doesn't shimmer at all.

Can somebody who's good with electrics please add another cable for me.
Arrrgggghhhh :D

FWIW, I use SS at 1.5 (or 1 if I'm off to do odyssey surface missions) and it helps a lot more than the AA settings (for obvious reasons)

Agreed. FSR is a nice feature, but the lack of functional anti-aliasing in this game makes the upscaling effects look even worse.

Anti aliasing (non fsr mode) works very well in VR leastways for me it does.
Smaa
It's clearly visible on foot and system orbit lines and the cockpit Interior as well as inside stations in a ship.
Smaa all the way for me

That's a pretty unhelpful statement unless you show us the improvement (with screenshots), and what you did to achieve it.
Will do tomorrow. Also, feel free to ignore what I say. You do not own this forum, and I have not broken any rules.

Oh, and here's your screenshot.
