disappointed

Ha......I've been playing it for 2 weeks now and having a blast. Must be doing it wrong lol.
Good for you. I am still waiting for Squadron 42 that was originally said to be released in 2014 for backers, 2016 as "official release"... now they don't even want to talk about the progress of it. CIG is great, right?

I don't think they ever used the word "promise". :ROFLMAO:

Nor did Frontier, did they?
Well, DB said "you will" for multiple features that are not in the game at the end of the "10years plan" thing. Including the dreaded "ship interiors" which was considered a feature they wouldn't do after all (until players moaned about it and they said "maybe").

Exactly. So I think people should either ridicule both or none.

I don't like that childish "us" vs "them" with different games.
I agree. Too many people are "reading into" things that, in their heads, turns into "promises". I take ED at face value, not for what DB said, but for what it gives me, right now, as a player.

EDIT: But I do find it a bit funny that some people that are "tired of FDevs lies" goes to Star Citizen. :D The only game that has done some real progress is NMS after its disaster of a release.

When new players leave the game because the community is too toxic, these very same people pat themselves on the back and say "See, we were right. Those haters are too toxic."

It's really incredible how much hostility people face who are new to the game and simply ask a question without researching the game for 100 hours first.

This person didn't ask a question though.

They just said, from my viewpoint, "I didn't even try to work anything out and just quit, and this game is bad because of that"

There are a lot of reason the game is bad, someone not trying anything isn't one of them.

Started up Odyssey today - I am wandering around some space facility with a confusing set of guns and mechanisms I've never heard of - sometime 'e','f', activates something sometimes left click, don't know what I am supposed to do - apparently someone is going to attack and
Quit
forget it
back to horizons

Other than the tutorial that I ditched when I got bored and confused, I've not visited any settlements or done any of the shooter stuff.
The good news is you don't need to do it. The spaceship stuff still works and I'm enjoying wandering about on planets finding plants.

... and that is a promise then?

Technically it's not. OFC, for most people it's misleading.
Like pretty much everything SC said and did/didn't do.

Which is why it's pointless to bash the other saying they are doing worse.

Leading to this :

Sure he did... he spoke about his vision and how he imagined this. Again, no promises, no timelines, which also allows him to re-evaluate what is the most important things do do first. Ship interiors were not it, when it comes to Odyssey, and I fully understand that choice.

If I say "you will do this" and later on I say "no you won't", then I was misleading. It's not breaking a promise but it's misleading nevertheless.

TBF, if the OP can’t be bothered to learn a game with a tutorial, I doubt they’ll fair well learning how to play SC.
Not sure about that. One great feature for beginners in SC is the global chat window. I had a few questions starting out in SC and they were answered in a matter of seconds by players on the server.

You can do the same in ED. Local chat is for everyone, no matter if they are in Solo, Private or Open.
