Request: Cobra Wireframe Paintjob another sell window ?

I missed the opportunity to get the wireframe paintjob and like to request another sell window of this awesome paintjob !!

anyone with me ?

I'd hope not. Limited Edition should be just that. There'll undoubtedly be wireframe skins for other craft, might just have to make do with one of those?

Which reminds me... Must remember to get my bling bling chrome Viper skin!

Limited Edition, must have :D

They should make sure that they stay limited.

Bought both Wireframe Cobra and Chrome Viper (I don't even fly a Viper, just can't help myself)

I understand why you're asking but no.
Not because I don't want you to have it, but because FD stick to their word and to offer that for sale again they'd have to go back on it.

Sorry.

ah screw it .. if its that much of a "idealistic" approach then i dont want it anymore. Posing was not my intention anyway , just enjoying its beauty and not is rarity

Honestly, I don't even notice the paint jobs for ships I pass. About all I look at is the gap to see if I can fit through.

I can't see spending funds to get a paint job.

I hate to be Mr Grump, but if the Cobra skin came up for sale again I'd ask for my money back. It's like the B5 scriptbooks, I missed the time they were available and I'm REALLY sorry I didn't get a peek at that bonus volume with the secret plan, but I'll actually be miffed if it ever becomes available again.

No matter how much I want to see it (more than most things I want) I'd be seriously annoyed on behalf of those who invested in the original volumes knowing that it was a limited edition.

I have one. I'd be pretty annoyed if the main reason I bought one "Limited Edition - get it now before time runs out!! " suddenly became available again.

That's not to be spiteful to the OP or anyone else, I'd just never buy another skin again that was touted as "Limited Edition" because that phrase would lose all meaning.

I'd likely never buy another skin again, period, instead.

I too want limited edition type items to be just that. However, the cobra wireframe is so iconic that I think it should be made available for a limited period at each anniversary of the original Elite. Still at the higher price point mind you. Skins like the chrome viper are another matter - that should stay limited. I have both and really don't mind sharing the cobra wireframe as an annual opportunity. Sadly I missed out on the flag paintjobs. :(

I dont even have one and I agree. Limited should be just that, and to bring it back would destroy its collectors value.

I do, on the other hand, think that people should be able to trade paint jobs in game. Might lead to an interesting collectors market...

I think the issue here is that for many of us, that skin was priced at a point where we had to think about whether to go for it or not. I know I did, because I don't have unlimited funds to throw at gaming. The limited edition was what tipped me over the edge, because I knew I'd never have the opportunity later on. Offering that skin again, would make me feel I had been manipulated by FD into the purchase.

From a marketing perspective, it would also mean FD could never again offer a "Limited Edition" because people would just hold off, knowing that doesn't mean anything and it will come up again later.

FWIW I don't begrudge the perks that early Kickstarter backers are getting like higher-level ships, access to a Founder's planet etc., since I came in at Beta 1. That's just how it goes. If a game company is going to offer limited access perks like this, and charge money for them, then they need to stick by their terms to remain credible for future offerings.

Just playing Devil's Advocate - How does having a second limited sale window mean a product is no longer "limited"? Wouldn't the only condition that makes something not "limited" is if it is always available?

Also, I missed the flag sales, too. I hope they bring them back for a limited second window - but I'm not holding my breath.

The commercial use of the phrase "Limited Edition" always implies a limited number available, or a single limited time frame to purchase, which is usually the case with digital media that can be infinitely reproduced. If FD was going to offer it for sale more than once, then they'd have to limit the number of skins sold to call it a Limited Edition. Which they never said they were doing. The single sales window is the only thing that makes it Limited.

That kind of wordplay is exactly what Star Citizen did, and hordes of people felt utterly cheated.

Any time you imply a "Now or Never" mentality (which is exactly what "limited sales" are designed to do), it universally seems unfair if you bring it back.

Though your not wrong... And some companies use "limited sales" which are recurring to support markets for either unpopular (but desired) items, or otherwise difficult to produce products. For an online digital product, it generally seems little more than money grubbing which is how many people on SC forums see it, and we would see swaths of the same arguments here that occurred over on SC forums... I for one dont want that.

Really it boils down to the information the provider issues with the sale. "Limited" implies that it wont be sold again. It would be just as easy to re-label that as an "event" sale.

I personally think it would be particularly interesting if they sold a different wire frame for each of the ships that have been modeled after the original Elites each anniversary.

Did FDev say they were doing a "one-time limited release" or just a "limited release"?

You know what, I'm arguing for the sake of arguing. It makes no difference to me either way. Sure, I'd like to take advantage of a second sales window because I missed the first, but c'est la vie.

Hell, I wanted to buy myself a Centennial Edition Colt 1911 back in 2011 and I had a whole year to do it and I still missed that boat... but that's because good 1911s aren't cheap.

I'd like one too but I don't want one. I think it should be left 'gone' as it was limited but hopefully for those of us that missed that skin there will be something new and limited to buy. Personally I'd like an Asp skin, love the ship and using a FOV at 74 gives an amazing view all around.

Gawd forbid not. Opening a can of stinking worms. That one was sold as a 30th Anniversary limited edition for that week only. If they put it back for sale again, no one will ever trust FD ever again.

Sorry to be negative but I have to say no.

I would be pretty annoyed if they put it back on sale, I only bought it because it was the last day and I didn't want to miss it. if it comes back, I'd be pretty miffed about it. limited edition should be just that. (sorry to those who missed out on it)
