Just playing Devil's Advocate - How does having a second limited sale window mean a product is no longer "limited"? Wouldn't the only condition that makes something not "limited" is if it is always available?
Also, I missed the flag sales, too. I hope they bring them back for a limited second window - but I'm not holding my breath.
That kind of wordplay is exactly what Star Citizen did, and hordes of people felt utterly cheated.
Any time you imply a "Now or Never" mentality (which is exactly what "limited sales" are designed to do), it universally seems unfair if you bring it back.
Though your not wrong... And some companies use "limited sales" which are recurring to support markets for either unpopular (but desired) items, or otherwise difficult to produce products. For an online digital product, it generally seems little more than money grubbing which is how many people on SC forums see it, and we would see swaths of the same arguments here that occurred over on SC forums... I for one dont want that.
Really it boils down to the information the provider issues with the sale. "Limited" implies that it wont be sold again. It would be just as easy to re-label that as an "event" sale.
I personally think it would be particularly interesting if they sold a different wire frame for each of the ships that have been modeled after the original Elites each anniversary.
