State of the Game

Many years ago, in the mid 90's, I worked in a factory soldering tiny little wires.
A little before that time, one of the places I did some design work for (Electronics) had a 'security cleared' workshop, one of the favourite tricks they played on n00bs was to replace the fuse in their solder station with one where the wire inside was replaced with a diode, the iron would heat up, but never hot enough to solder with...

And why don't we get cuddly stuff like this in the ED forum?

Are we the Morlocks?

If E : D was in planet zoo, we'd be wasps.

are you implying that the photo that clearly shows someone has been abusing that animal in a way that is most definitely illegal wherever there are laws (outside of some rural farming communities) should not have resulted in putting the animal out of it's misery? ....as it is likely extremely traumatized.

it's called compassion. Not doom. That dog is already dead inside.
Ok, now I get it. I really do. You can't just look at something and laugh because all you see is problems everywhere.

because planet zoo made a game with a specific focus. A targeted player type. So the playerbase is generally happy with what they're playing.

Elite dangerous was made by someone who thought it was a good idea to sell a game to all player types. Guaranteeing it has no focus. And guaranteeing that 100% of the players have various things they hate about the game and many of them to such a degree that they're in a constant state of hating the game they play almost as much as liking it. With absolutely every new thing being done (besides fixing bugs or improving performance), having a portion of the playerbase diametrically opposed to it's existence or implementation.

So we are the Morlocks then?

I laugh at funny things. why would you laugh at a picture of a light shining thru a dog? besides the horrors of what caused that to happen, what's the funny aspect? there is really nothing amusing about the photo - it's just a photo showing something that isn't possible. what else must one find funny to have laughed at such a photo? Miming ? is miming also funny to you? Clowns?

Your sense of humor is amusing ...it's like when you see an animal do something humans do. Like oh, they laugh when they fall down too. But in this case, being amused at stock photos.

Never read the PZ forums have you. I used to think that the ED forums were the outlier in how tragic a person can be about a game but a few threads there give it a strong competition.

i'd have to imagine though that the percentage of players of those kinds of games vs subscribers to the forum is vastly different than a game like elite dangerous (especially considering how long elite dangerous only had the forum to interact with it)

ie. we only see the outliers in a game like pz on the forum. But in elite, it's fairly indicative of the general playerbase.
