Dump the medicine.

Yesterday, Salvation contacted a number of Commanders to ask them to haul "medicine" from his megaship in the Pegasi Sector in to the Cornsar system, which recently came under attack by Thargoids. He claims these medicines are actually components of some unspecified weapon, most likely related to that found at the Guardian battleground that he secured access to.

A few hours ago, I was woken up by this intense blue flash - it seemed to come from everywhere. I thought we were under attack. Then Farrell came stumbling out of her lab, her clothes and body burned black, and dropped dead.

The others started collapsing within the hour. I think there was some kind of radiation surge from the crystal we stole. I tried to get the ship's drive online again, but... too weak. Can hardly stand now. Pain in every muscle, vision is blurred. My skin is... like everyone else's.

Please...don't find us...
Yesterday, I and a number of other Commanders began destroying this "medicine". All of the initial supply was destroyed. Only dregs remain, whatever Salvation can rush to produce and resupply. We're asking that you don't scavenge for them. Destroy whatever he gives you.

It's a shame that we have to do this, because I do have faith in Salvation. The alternative, Aegis, is no alternative at all, a sham of an organisation built first and foremost to protect the interests of those in power. But that doesn't mean we have to blindly support Salvation in all that he does, either. He cannot be allowed to repeat the mistakes of INRA in the name of avoiding the mistakes of Aegis.

If Salvation's weapon is based on that Guardian weapon, it may pose a huge risk to the people living there. Perhaps he sees this as a necessary sacrifice, just like all the lives sacrificed by Aegis. But it's not. The Thargoids are targetting Cornsar because of the Guardian wreckage, which likely resulted from Aegis's failed attempt to trigger a Thargoid attack in Sol, the Alexandria. It would not have happened if not for Aegis, like so many other of the attacks.

Treat the cause, not the symptom. Radiation is a dangerous cure, and this war will go on forever if all we do is keep escalating it. Right now the Thargoids are holding back. They disable stations, not destroy, minimizing casualties. Taking back what we steal from them. Aegis want to keep pushing them, and Salvation appears to think that's our only option too. Prove them wrong.

Maybe the weapon is totally safe. Salvation doesn't see fit to burden us with the details, however. Maybe, since FrontierSalvation hasn't specified how much of this medicine is needed, he can just declare victory anyway. But in that case, we have nothing to lose and all to gain.

Aegis's masters think they can hide the truth, arrogant in their ability to shepherd us, no matter how many die thanks to their lies. We are all necessary sacrifices to their power.
Salvation has uncovered some of it, but not all. We owe it to him to not let him make this mistake.

Destroy it all.

Total destroyed as of now: 1.2 million*

*give or take. There appear to be bugs with syncing supply between Horizons and Odyssey, but the servers are starting to catch up now, maybe. Our apologies to the hamsters.

As one of the major driving forces behind this, I wholeheartedly agree!
We need to stop the endless cycle of violence, aggression and escalation, while realising our own part in creating the so-called "Thargoid War".

Almost all of the actions that the Thargoids have taken have been easily matchable to an event that we did to them prior. Even their station attacks - look at how the damage models were created, they specifically have reactors and cargo pods torn open, implying the Thargoids were simply disabling them in order to retrieve their things that they believed were aboard. If the Thargoids wanted to outright destroy a station, then they could, but they haven't.
We've provoked the Thargoids in-narrative from day one, invaded their space, harvested their barnacles, and opposing voices who want anything other than outright total war have been completely blindsided, with the occasional appearance of a "conspiracy theorist" in GalNet plying the alternate view.

The pro-Thargoid community has had a tiny trickle of content for years now, with barely anything new in ages, simply staring, interacting with, and non-violently observing Thargoids.
I see this "CG" as a chance to show that we desire non-aggressive Thargoid content, and are willing to fight for it, moreso than disparate groups simply ganking or attacking those involved with AX activities. The lore is also left sufficiently ambiguous enough to mean that the counter-narrative is incredibly viable, and even more likely than the straightforward "Thargoid Menace" being pushed on us by GalNet and traditional avenues, lots of clues have been left for those with eyes to see.

We also know they can track commodities being destroyed, and it was even recognised in a previous CG many years ago, so let's see what we can do to actually blaze our own trail.

Very interesting, good to see independent commanders standing up for what they believe and following their convictions!
What is the credit value of 1.2 million units?
I've personally bought and thrown away approximately 300 million credits of the stuff, manually clicking through that much was completely nightmarish.

I'm on board! I've already personally destroyed hundreds of thousands of tons. Will update this comment if I manage to estimate the proper number.
Edit: nvm, just about 25000 but still significant. Salvation already had to comission two more bulk cargo megaships to keep up with the artificial demand.

Scummy traitors trying to hinder development of anti xeno weapons.
You think the Thargoids are picking up humans in escape pods for nothing? They are developing their own weapons to be even more effective.

Plus, I want a sweet modded Gauss cannon, but that's got nothing to do with the above plea which is... what is my ...real motivator...

Not the shiny gun... nope.

With a million(ish) tonnes of base supply, and basic medicines' normal supply generation rates, a 10-minute market tick will generate a thousand tonnes or more anyway. So actually preventing delivery this way is probably impractical.

Nevertheless worth a try to see if anything interesting results.
And we buy up that thousand tonnes when it does. With how the game is setup however, we are aware that this isn't a perfect blockade. Just hopefully the closest thing you can get to it in this situation - the main goal is to inspire others to work with us, actively or passively. But even that is a longshot as we have no idea what Frontier's idea of "success" is for Salvation, if there is a goal at all.

"Worth a try" is a phrase that came up a lot when planning this. It's really entirely up to Frontier, as ever. We'll do what we can on our end though, until then.

That's very likely just a waste of time and credits. Note that FDev have not specified the amount to be delivered for "success". It is very likely that Salvation will "succeed" regardless of what commanders do because FDev have likely spent too much resources on this story developing in this way and the release of the new gauss cannons to just throw that in the bucket because some players decided to destroy the supply.

Even if it depended on reaching some certain limit, the supply at the megaship is regenerating very fast based on my (admittedly few) observations.

Salvation has not said that the Gauss cannons rely on his success, but otherwise I agree with you. But we have to hope there's a chance, because if there isn't and the whole thing is rigged to succeed no matter what players do - why are we here? We could just sit back and let the story autocomplete, through events like this and guaranteed Tier 1 wins in one-sided CGs. I hope that is not the case, for the sake of this story, and not the shinies.

I would imagine just one ton delivered would make you eligible for the new weapon. I think they need it available to all for the long term story to progress.

I could say something rash using words beginning with o p and / or T mixed with a finite supply.

But I'll behave today. But, its a shame its yet another cargo hold size x time CG and nothing more.
