Why are we left in the dark?

Dear Frontier Developments,

We matter just as much as PC players, do we not? I've spent well over 200 dollars on the console version of Elite just like many others. We were promised transparency going forward from FDEV and I expected it not just to be for PC players.....So be transparent! Say something. Anything. We matter too. Don't leave us in the dark because that just encourages people to move onto other games. Elite Dangerous doesn't deserve to die a slow death on consoles because it's too good of a game not to be on consoles. That said, we don't deserve this media blackout that is being put forth by Frontier. Either tell us that you're continuing to work on the game for consoles or admit that it's been canceled and figure out a solution for us to transfer our accounts to PC. Because we deserve to be treated just as fair as PC players.

They give us Supercruise News and other updates on PC's progress which in turn allows us console players to see they are not yet content with Odyssey on PC and are still working on it to get it where they'd like it to be. With other titles like Cyberpunk 2077 fecalmattering the console bed it's completely understandable why they are taking their time with this.

Sit back, work on your Quad Elite because we all know you're not Elite CQC, Earn your Permits, Earn your PP Modules, and enjoy what you have. If you want some FPS action go play Destiny for a bit like many of the console CMDRs I play with do.

I disagree with you. The lack of news about consoles has been disheartening to say the least and I don't believe that saying consoles will be addressed only until after we have fixed the PC version is a good enough excuse. The progress updates for Odyssey is news for console as they are directly connected.

I don't believe that saying consoles will be addressed only until after we have fixed the PC version is a good enough excuse.

The process to get a game approved by Microsoft or Sony to be placed on their respective market places is much more stringent than releasing a game on PC. This has only been exacerbated by the CP2077 fiasco and the backlash from players about how unpolished the game was. ED, EDH, EDO are all ports form the PC version which means if they even hope to have a chance to make it into the MS/Sony markets EDO will need to be polished much more than it is now.

I mainly play Elite for the exploration and Odyssey has a huge update to that aspect, so of course I'm going to be invested in learning when we will get to experience it.

I can dig it but 98%+ of the galaxy is yet to be explored so you've got some stuff to explore. Check out The Stellar Cartographer's Guild. A large portion of them are on Xbox and they're still finding new and cool things throughout the galaxy... ON HORIZONS.

Again, the Odyssey updates they provide is information. I can't tag her, per Bongo's post, but Sally has been stating this for a while. They're not going to give out a specific date of when it will drop until they know that date is something that will happen. Until then the Odyssey updates for PC will give us an idea of the state of the game and if we are even in the neighborhood of getting a release.

OP, I don't think you're missing ANY news about the console release. The news about the console release has just not changed in several months now. You have the latest news. Yes, it sucks that the situation is that way but that is the unfortunate reality of it.

Sorry, but freedom of speech (as long as it is not hatespeech) is a fundamental right. Mod's should not be the allmighty guys whose descisions may never be pulled in doubt. If you expect to get an answer from a CM on a relevant new question, you should ask. [/offtopic]

Mhhh would be okay, if we knew what I means to get EDO fixed and polished. Does it mean, that it runs on every pc even with messed up configurations? We don't even know, if feature-completeness is one criteria to restart console development. And even then, we do not know what feature-completeness would mean. Quintessence: Even with the shared info on pc, we don't get any feeling on the EDO getting nearer to consoles. See, even with the PC infos we are still in the dark in terms of a feeling of progress to the golden goal. We'll see, what will be left of the playerbase when the veil drops.

Let me give an analogon:
If you drive a vehicle (even at really fast 220km/h) on the Autobahn (yes, you can do this here legally...) and don't know your destination's distance, you have no feeling of progress except of trees flying by. Arrival could be soon or in far future... you miss out any feeling of progress.

I think we share the same sentiment on this topic. I really expected better from the media department.....They dropped the ball hard.

Fix EDO on PC, then work and launch EDO on Consoles.
First part of the plan is not yet fulfilled

The CM repeated this almost weekly.

Perfectly valid argument for more transparency. Are we left in the dark though? IMO, no. We have "the golden goal" and we receive updates on their progress. The one thing we don't have that you mentioned is that download percentage box of how much has been done. I agree that more transparency would be greatly appreciated but we're not in the dark just a dimly lit room stumbling around trying to find the light switch.

Since the root issue is not resolved (missing transparancy) even closing this thread will cause the next person (not me!) to open up a new thread on this. yes, you can fight the symptoms, but fighting the root issue might be more effective. Nobody requests a procent bar, just a rough idea of the state of game that is needed to re-engage console development. (In fact there was a reason, why the procent bar was invented --> feeling of progress and making the user keep his patience)
But this won't happen, so I am off this discussion. I delivered my arguments in the closed topic. So, I'm off. Feel free to have fun with the upcoming dozens of posts and threads on console and EDO by some random frustrated console player... Keep fighting the symptoms. off now
