Ships let's findout how to engineer the fastest mid-range ship

Increased Range/Mass manager respectively (fast charge does nothing for exploring)
No. You want the v1 FSD with increased range and fast charge with mass manager added on top. Fast charge also increases optimal mass (not as much as increased range but more than the mass manager experimental effect) so it is not accurate to say it does nothing for exploration. (You’ll also save a whooping 8 seconds everytime you power up your FSD after repairing it due to excessive neutron star supercharging.)

It makes the FSD malfunctions due integrity loss rather superfluous.
Since the FSD reboots so fast stopping to repair the FSD will waste a lot more time than not doing it. Basically one can go more than 25000ly without needing to repair the FSD (if using a 65+ ly jump ship) while riding the neutron highway

Supercharged jumps damage your FSD, so you'll need an AFMU.
IMO, getting there fast is not very important when exploring. When you get to the area you want to explore, you'll be making eco-jumps anyway.

Therefore, it depends on how you're going to use the DBX.
is supercharge when crafting special fuel?
does it increase the top speed inside systems ?
how we lower BIG travel times say 215,000 ls from a star to a star ?

has anyone ever tried lowering the size of the fuel tank for " mid-range" exploring?
unladen mass becomes lower , top speed accelerates faster and climbs higher ..

Lots of confusion on this topic but downsizing the fuel tank as it is referred to does NOT increase your jumprange at all.
It increases your laden jump range.. Which can also be accomplished by not fully refueling at the star.

A bigger tank is good for chaining neutron jumps. I can jump over 2400ly (8 jumps) on a tank with my dbx. Try that with a conda.. Or any other ship for that matter

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

I mentioned supercharged meaning fueled from a neutron star. It makes you jump further, not faster.
Do you want to go faster when jumping? In supercruise? Or in normal space?

Krait phantom & AspX has about same range as dbx more or less, depends on how extreme built you go. Difference is 5.7s vs 15s scoop time per jump

You never fss? Or you do not get the point
You can FSS while scooping in a Dolphin too. In fact, you can do basically anything while scooping. And no, I do not FSS every system, only those that contain interesting stuff (which a quick look at the spectrum will tell you). In uninteresting systems you can easily honk, look at the spectrum, scoop, and still jump on cooldown.

Mind posting your dolphin exploration build?

Thank you.

I don't play open, so without spending too much time on it, for solo:

Dolphin vs DBX

Darn that's close. Is the convenience worth the ~10 ly? Considering that once you get out there that doesn't matter in the slightest..?

decisions decisions.
Well if your going only for distance here's Krait with about same jump range as your dbx and way faster scoop

what outfitting you use for personnel transport? was it this Krait?
i did notice just useing almost stock ship , the Dolphin JumpCharges quicker than other ships..
i did spend about 1-2 hours in my dolphin , of course , i am super new... i finally found what i had to do and where to land and go and how to scan..
long story but i realized i did the outfitting wrong.
i was done after an hour with one leg of the journey then she goes tells me to the next spot which is super far...

Mostly my personal jet, it's pleasure to fly and that speed. Second most used would be Krait mk2, it's when I want to shoot back at gankers.

There is v1 fsd from human tech broker that comes with Increased Range and Faster Boot Sequence, it's only for class 5 tho.

Dolphin is great ship for transport so stick with it until you want that new ship smell.

Here's mine, the current ship I'm out exploring with. Has guns, shields and all... don't really need them but I like the style, plus I do combat whenever I visit a far outpost system for a change.

This build needs some power management to work, you basically automatically turn off everything you don't need when you use guns. It's even better, I have some extra engineering that doesn't show in Coriolis.

The supercruise module is great for exploring, you can target a far away body and chill, search the Galaxy map etc, while traveling to it.
