So the flip side to my airport story is visiting a well known NY restaurant with a bunch of work colleagues. All from the UK.
As we were led to our table there were four men being loud and gregarious, looking rather excited and pink, with lots of people 'noticing' them. They were all very well dressed and situated more or less in the middle of the room and they all pretty much looked up to us as we walked by, to receive complete and utter indifference and be on the receiving end of being roundly ignored.
As we sat someone in our group asked if anyone had a clue who 'they' were. A few asked who she was talking about, the rest said we didn't. We collectively shrugged and continued paying them not a jot of attention. (Whilst we all also sniggered about it). One of the chaps later played a blinder and whilst ambling to the toilets stopped near to their table to send/receive a text, again without giving them the merest glance. We thought it hilarious, although we were also quite drunk and far louder than them by then. They left not longer after and I still have no idea who they were, no-one cared to ask.
