fair or unfair to new players? then we should say how unfair it is that new players come and can not immediately buy anaconda. what a cruel injustice. although everyone can get it on hutton
All new players can get a free Anaconda at Hutton orbital, don't worry about the M landing pad there is another around the back of the station, takes a bit of finding though.

Agreed, but looking at this from a new player perspective this sucks.
It's not the first nor last CG.

Players who join a game that has been running for over six years can't reasonably expect to compete at the same level as those who have been playing for years after a few days of play.
I do have an FC and you can check my main account on Inara if you don't believe me.
Not sure what relevance this has to the discussion?

I don't disagree that FCs have made doing CGs in a small ship a LOT more painful, although even just participating will net a new account more credits than most other small ship activities (high buy prices on the commodities and the credit reward) .

But here's the thing, should everything in game be balanced towards being "new account friendly" ?

You can literally see it through the windows.

(actually I haven't disembarked in an outpost yet, it would be great if you could take a selfie next to it)

Regarding fair/unfair then yeah I think your perceptions are a little off - extending your logic further then Thargoid combat would be unfair to a new player too.

Ultimately, it's your subjective opinion so it's moot really, but I hope you get over this unfair/fair perception and fly safe.

Only if you want the game to have longevity.

Butter bei die Fische:
assuming playing in Solo and having the ability to evade NPC interdictions.
One ton of thermal whatsits would have netted you 25k.
A shieldless cargo sidey costs you 23k max (less if you start from the loaner Sidey) and nets you 16*25k = 400 k per run.
So that first run in a Sidey is almost enough to buy a shieldless, otherwise stock, cargo Cobra III. That one will get you 64*25k = 1.6 MCr. per run.
The first Cobra run lets you buy a T-6. That will get you 2.8 MCr per run.
Now it gets a bit steeper - the next step up would be a T-7 at ~19 MCr, i.e. ~7 runs in the T-6. Once you've got the T-7, though, you're alse excluded from those close by medium pads.

By the time you got the T-7, you've done 9 runs and delivered 16+64+7*114 = 878 tons of cargo. I'd put the first run's profits into an A-rated FSD. In order to reach the 2200 ton goal, you'll need 5 runs in that T-7 in total, so 16 runs overall. Taking the aforementioned 10 minutes per run, that's three hours. 4 hours if you need 15 minutes per run.

The relevance ; I have played the game and know of what I speak. If the new player experience is not catered for the game will die a slow death.

and what's wrong with the experience of new players? the most pleasant and interesting memories are the experiences of being a new player! every million credits improved your abilities and made you happy! this is the best and happiest time in the game. i do not see any problems with the experience of new players, some invented problem. but the experience of old players - yes. why should i spend billions of unnecessary credits? why the entire galaxy has as many ship models as in the soviet union of cars?

But you're not a new player.

I gathered 2978 commodities for the cg and flew my carrier to a system next door to Alcor and dumped them at the CG station the first night it started.

Money is crap even if you get a top 10 so I was only interested in getting on the board for the rewards.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I barely held on to the 50% tier.

As Leo said, the payout for this one is crap, the real reward is the modules and the trade profits while doing the actual hauling. I made about 10 million in profit per run in a T-10 stuffed with thermal cooling units.

On my one delivery with a full hold of thermal cooling units I bagged 22m :D Then I went to restock and I'd burned all the supply, I think they had 6 or 7 lol, so it was 4m per run for computer components after that. No time to mess around looking for more supply of the profitable stuff with limited game time and a CG moving that fast.

The payout was fairly meh by CG standards but I still cleared a nice little payday from the trade profit and CG payout but as you say, the real reward is the FSDs - I get to add even more legs to my already absurd exploraconda, my bubble runabout/material gathering Courier will get a nice boost from the class 3 and I still haven't decided what to do with the class 4 - I suspect it will end up on my CM4 though, just to make it even more exclusive lol.

I was able to haul 4,848 units from a star port and it held its stock. I could tell other people were hitting the place too, but supply was only slowly dwindling because it was only other crazy people like me who would suffer 4 jumps and a 2k Ls supercruise jaunt.

On a day when I'd have more time to play I'd have considered that but it was a proper rush job for me yesterday, just found the closest location with a high supply of cheap stuff (2 jumps and 13 ls from the spawn) and went for it. I was so glad I engineered my T-9 years ago, 25 LY jump range when fully loaded really helps for CGs.

I went for thermal cooling units for this CG, not because I needed the money, but because I was curious to see how much profit I could rack up. 22 million for each Cutter-load, multiplied by 12 runs is a quite decent amount of money, and even transporting this in a Type 6 or 7 would make most new players rather wealthy in a matter of hours.
