General / Off-Topic Stock analysis of Elite Dangerous for FDEV and the impact of Odyssey

Just for anyone even a little considering FDEV stock, never, ever look at just the short term perspectus. Anything publicly traded will have history you can find with Google.

Based on the 5 year, I wish I'd known to buy four years ago. Then again I rarely trade single company stocks.

Moral of the story is buy FDEV in 12/22 because the stock will be so badly tanked after Odyssey that you can make a killing when Warhammer 40K comes out in 2023.

Then dump FDEV almost immediately (within 10 days) after the release of Warmhammer 40K because it will be a burning trash heap buggy mess.

I'm mainly a funds man myself, with a couple of direct share ownerships here and there. I'm ready to 'buy the dip' when/if certain opportunities present themselves, but every time I even consider buying shares in FDEV I just think of the Odyssey debacle and think "I don't trust them to deliver."

I think he's arguing that 2021 is a good time to invest because they are at a relative low, and are projected to go up once the public forgets about EDO.

No the big expected dip is to come in FY2022 when/if they miss their projections of 140-160m. That (If it happens) will be the time to buy but before they release the warhammer and F1 games in FY 2023. Of course they could manage to pull a blinder and exceed expectations. Therein lies the rub! It is telling though that longer term investment companies are strengthening their positions.

I won't forget EDO. That for me is a failure at a project management level, a complete misreading of what their customers asked for.

If they can do that with EDO then I have little trust they won't do that with F1 or Warhammer.

I mean I hold almost exclusively Mutual funds and thats my preferred buy, still get growth and one execs bad call can't crush my bottom line.

Agreed it is a complete misreading. However their Chief "Creative" Officer has said he doesn't give a rat's about ED (mocking Braben during FX17 as "the only one of us interested in space") so I can't see that breeding a positive culture towards it.

I did invest when FDEV first launched on the AIM and I've just dumped the lot.... so from my perspective it's a case of 'blow-you-Jack-I'm-alright'. My sell decision (thru broker) was entirely sparked by the mis-launch of Odyssey and just where 'I' thought things are headed.
