State of the Game

laws can be weird - like my mother-in-law, if she would be financially dependent on my partner, she could stay with us in Australia indefinitely, but she is quite wealthy and so she cannot without applying for a proper visa - what good is in that law?- if she would be poor she could just stay with us for good, but she is filthy rich, so she needs to apply for a visa and most likely invest a couple of millions to become a ciitzen.
I was chatting to a neighbour who turned up, unbeknownst to him, around 17 hours early for his covid booster. 9am the next day would have been fine, but 4pm that day was not and they refused to jab him.

As an aside, could she maybe put enough in trust and then later dissolve the trust...? I am not a tax or immegration lawyer, etc...

the thing is, she is with us since end of 2019 - on tourist visa - those are normally just for at most 1 year - due to covid all tourists had to leave tasmania with the exceptions of those living with Australians - the state was so kind to extend her visa twice - bypassing the normal procedure - Tassie is still covid-free, so we would want her to stay with us and not having to return to Europe, but her time will run out in May 2022, we won't be able to get a 3rd exception to the rule of law. If she would be poor, she could just stay with us and would not have to return to Europe and apply from there for a visa - so just because she is rich, she has to leave Australia for that - this is just silly, because Australia wants wealthy people as new citizens - but they make it a little difficult in my books, if she could just stay with us, if she would be poor - this is just a silly law.

Playing NMS I enjoy romps around planets and caves (a geological feature ruled out by the laws of physics in Elite Dangerous) but I miss good, engaging flight models. That's why I bought the DCS Huey and a virpil collective!
I had the pleasure to fly (as a passenger) in a Huey, which had been in the vietnam war even - in Capetown, South Africa - it is a marvelous chopper and it's sound is so iconic. I can understand your urge for a decent flight model, I'm flying the Robinson R66 irl and the Mosquito XET - the latter is actually not that expensive, eventually it would be something for you, getting the real flying experience.

get the turbine version, if you are going for it - if your life depends on it, it is better to have a proper turbine than a crappy combustion engine.

She could send her money to me then she's be poor and could stay.
I'll look after it then send it back.
Kind regards

our R66 is quite luxurious for an entry level business helicopter - with garmin cockpit, auto-pilot, auto-hover, air conditioning, long range tanks, Rolls Royce turbine. That is a lot of stuff for just a million dollars US.

If I make a surprise 25 grand I might get one! Helis are much more fun in sims than fixed wing (though I like both).
double that - and you just get a do-it-yourself kit for that money - 50 grand with luck, eventually more.

the actual price depends a lot on where you want to fly it - if you need radio, transponder and so on, it gets expensive quickly. And it is an experimental helicopter, so if you are not flying it on your own property or are near a major airport, it can be quite costly to get it approved and outfitted properly.

you will find out, if you are a helicopter person after just a few hours - you either get it and become the helicopter (this is how flying it feels to me, I'm not flying it, I am the helicopter, it just feels natural to me) or you don't get it and it is overwhelming having to adjust 3 controls at the same time - you will find out once you tried it.

trying to fly the r66 in a simulator was not a good experience to me - I guess, I just need the real thing to be able to fly it properly - lol. There is so much subconsciously involved flying it, which is not present in a simulator - I guess, that is it, what makes it difficult to do it in a simulator, whereas it is so natural to me irl.
