The Bucc is usually included as a free loaner with most of the Drake ships in SC...can't remember where I got mine from, I've never bought one but always had itI don't normally go in for 'pure fighter' type builds (usually playing a Hauler, or a support role if we're going into combat territory) but I could so get behind that.
I think it is quite a bit faster though?
Lived Tie. Best bucket ever. No, that was Tie/I.I liken it to XvT...when I used to play that in the 90's...I always flew a tie fighter. No shields, smaller weaponry but could outfly and stick it to an Xwing all day every day. It's the same with the little Buccaneer versus one of the space-phalluses. If it managed to hit the Bucc, it would be toasted...but hitting it in the first place is the hard bit

That Ares nonsense all the pew crew are whining about...and it is just them doing the whining. They bought the thing imagining floating gaily around one-shotting newbies whilst choking on their own lulz... but found to their dismay that the ancient tried and tested Buccaneer...which looks like a pair of huge engines with a few bits of scrap gaffer taped in between them...is flitting around their supposed Uber-ship knocking large bits of it off with space shotguns whilst they can't keep the annoying little Bucc in their crosshairs long enough to fire their capital ship killer space-phallus at it

Less that, I think more the 'persistence' a-la Naval Action or Eve that they'd promised would solve these problems.
