State of the Game

You can buy a product called Post Fix. Its basically dry concrete. One bag per post. Set the post and pour the dry post fix around it inside the hole. Add water. It sets solid in around 2 mins. Job done!

I've used this, and its not bad as long as the hole is deep enough.

Yup, it's good stuff, and I used it on the last one. Only thing to do is make sure it's well mixed before you pour it in else the ballast can settle out in storage. Need a nice mix up.

Not cheap compared to making it yourself, but definitely the modern man's choice!

No I don't moonlight at Wickes!

Making your own cuts into tea and crumpet time. This is clearly unacceptable in the modern age.

Glad you liked it! Doing deep posts is really back breaking to be honest, but very satisfying when the sod stands up to a La Manche winter storm at 70mph!
I'm well out of my depth with landscaping but have found this website to be really good when I have to do stuff at work:

I don't have a garden currently but when I do I'm looking forward to all the fences, sheds and plants being spread through the neighbourhood on windy days..

Whenever I have landscaping needs I call C.P. Benedict, you know, the garden centre king...

That's a good site actually, I've looked through it before.

I'll be spending time at the US version of that store today getting some dishwasher installation parts not included with this new guy. The post holes will have to wait until the weekend.

hate lowes and home depot. It's a neverending amount of money spent there on things that are almost what i want, but not quite but i have to buy it anyway because all amazon stocks is knockoff chinese products of varied and questionable quality from brands i've never heard of - despite generally being closer (looking) to what i need. More often than not lately though, i've had to come home empty and buy on amazon anyway.
