To Solo Play Players: If You Could Disable PVP, Would You Play in Open Play Mode Instead?

Not for all players, just a (relatively) small subset of them. Half of the players are below the median skill.

Outside harder thargoids, you dont need any skill at all. Driving a corvette backwards with pips at 4-0-2 spamming gimballed multicannons is not exactly difficult, lets be honest.

And yes, that will defeat literally any non tharg enemy in the game, without any problem at all.

My opinion, which i know is different to yours, is that you should not be able to affect multiplayer features without being exposed to other players trying to stop you. I think it partly ruins (bit of a strong word.. but still) what could have been an amazing game.

Personally, i think Solo/PG should be 100% separate from Open, and switching from open to solo/PG should not be possible, and only decided at account creation. Either play with the open players or dont, no swapping.

I wont argue with you further, ive seen your posts and understand your attitude. Ill never agree with it.
You would never see every play affecting the game. You wouldn't even know of all the factors influencing the game. Players aren't omniscient and picking some random players as "responsible" for influencing the game is nonsense. For all you could know it could be a random number generator rolling the dice to influence the game. Even if you knew who was influencing the game you could impossibly be at all the places in all the instances in all the timezones, regions to "counter" them. It's a child's fiction.

Which seems to presume that the ship being flown is combat optimised - and a rank locked one to boot. Not all players play the game for combat.

Driving a corvette [...]
Not all players own a vette. Not all players want to engage in combat related stuff. There are goals to achieve and activities to fullfill that doesn't have an "enemy" in the way you think of. For some players it is difficult enough to land on a 2g Planet or receiving a guardian FSD booster. Instead of killing other players you could choose to help them, to play with them not against them. That's a realistic possibility and believe it or not... It makes fun!

The idea is that players accumulate the skill while grinding for the corvette. Unless you maybe know a way to cheese your way in credits and reputation gains - whch wouldn't surprise me, since the average ganker is not known for fair play.

Works perfectly fine in an Anaconda, too, or a Krait MKII even (though that might get a bit beaten up after 3 or 4 elite wing assassinations).

And yeah, obviously combat optimised. You wouldnt expect to do all the combat in the game in a trade ship and if you could it would be a RUBBISH game.

I have literally never interdicted another player, in 4 years.

I am not a ganker.

It may surprise you to learn that not all people wanting a 'dangerous' galaxy want it so they can curbstomp noobs.

The point being that not all players fly around in combat optimised ships....

It took me a total of like... 3 days play if i recall correctly to get full fed rank, just by spamming pirate assassination missions. Its not really hard...

I dont really appreciate the unfounded assertion that i cheat.
