This is my first post here so feel free to take it down or move it if need be. My question is does anybody else have issues with the star catalog not finding a star you're searching for. I'm running a road to riches route and I've run across a whole series of stars on my route that it's not finding am I doing something wrong or is this an issue? I'm looking for smojai yk-p d5-53 among quite a few others.

I assume you mean the galaxy map? It comes up fine for me, are you copying and pasting there?
Yes in the Galaxy map. There is a search feature that searches the star catalogue for the star you input. I tried copy/paste, i tried manual input. I tried typing the first few characters then scrolling through the list but there are entire chunks of what should be there missing. For example i type HIP 5 and I get nothing. Hip 4 and 6 are there but nothing in the 5 range. Not exact star names I abbreviated there for illustration.
Odyssey or Horizons? Odyssey has had issues with the galmap search before.
Well that does make it difficult to test your searches against mine. So far mine have all worked fine and I do a LOT of searches in the galaxy map. I am unable to reproduce your problem using the examples presented, can you test with actual stars you are using and post results you have had, also your settings aka filters and etc so I can test using the same setting you are using, it may be some setting in the search function that's causing the issue.
Has to be Odyssey acting up then.
At least when I type HIP 5 & hit enter in Horizons GalMap, it goes straight to HIP 50.
Just tried smojai yk-p d5-53 (from the OP) in EDO and it was fine. Changing my vote to 'operator error'
Filters don't affect search AFAIK, though they may stop you selecting the result.
I checked out some filter settings and you are right they don't appear to affect the search result, but maybe there's a bug somewhere in the filter settings that is causing the issue, hence wanting to know the actual search and the filter setting the OP is using to test it.
Thanks everyone for all the replies! So I figured out that if I select a nearby star when it is not finding the system I am looking for and then enter the system in the search after that it will find them. It happens at random times. I played all afternoon and had no issues but the other day it just wouldn't find hardly anything I entered. The whole week before that it was find but I had the same issue a few weeks ago. My filters are set to OBAFGKM but other than that nothing weird. I've even tried deselecting all filters when it is acting up but no change.

smojai yk-p d5-53 is the only one I remember, only because I wrote it down. I am using OBAFGKM filters only.
