CIG? They're the ones who spent the money running a company and delivering a complete bare bones patch. And who did this?
Anyway. $80M yearly costs / 365 days = $220K p/day * 42 days = $9.2M

Look beyond his need to be right, and he is actually a pretty personable guy.I think some people liked him for the drama he created rather than for him as a person or as a source of real information.
It was always funny seeing the faithful losing their rag over DS's latest blog or whatever.
Look beyond his need to be right, and he is actually a pretty personable guy.
I remembered him from alt.comp.sys.spacesim or whatever it was on Usenet and the flamewars that used to happen there and started following him on Twitter for entertainment reasons. We've chatted a bit and he actually promoted a friend of mine's Kickstarter for me.
He's a reasonable guy that gets a boogeyman reputation because he is blunt about Roberts and his clan being crooks and SC not being achievable under the idiot.
Like I said, you need to look beyond his need to be rightHe's a good guy until you disagree with him. That's what i get from his posts and history.
DS and CR are a bit of one and the same...failed and faded developers from a century ago with little talent left for anything else except attention seeking on t'interwebLike I said, you need to look beyond his need to be right
I try not get into arguments with people (either on the internet or in general). It's not worth sweating the unimportant stuff in life and conversations on the internet are really, really not important![]()
Answer the call in the year of the Linux desktop!I think some people aren't grokking the humour here.

Bro, I'm 2x legatus at this point. have more javelins than my ego can handle
this letter is not a mock or anything of the sort. it is a legitimate letter to the Chairman.
I think you need to adjust your perspectives.
Elite and DCS have their own forums and those are much more heavily moderated than this place.
If Spectrum were moderated by the mods at either the Frontier forums or the Eagle Dynamics forums, this place would be a lot quieter.
People are allowed to post much more negatively (most of it pointless snark and unconstructive criticism) here than those other two.
23 hours after posting and the thread's still going strong at #1, fast approaching 2000 comments too. Lots of comedy salt for the popcorn![]()

The tone has certainly shifted on there since I last read it, which was a looong while ago.
Reading it now it's 'remarkable' how much broken stuff is still in the game years later.
That’s not the usual tone for the subreddit. That post has hit the reddit front pages, bringing a broader audience / old grizzled backers back to the conversation![]()
It also rather begs the question what is plan B for SC and SQ42 if they can't get server meshing to work or work well enough?..... their statement is basically saying both SC and SQ42 are effectively on hold until server meshing is in place. Erm... so exactly what are the 690ish people who aren't working on server meshing doing?
There is no SQ42. Not that it would need server meshing in the first place. Thus you can be sure that there is no plan B.It also rather begs the question what is plan B for SC and SQ42 if they can't get server meshing to work or work well enough?
This is assuming that there was a plan A. Which I doubt based on all the evidence to date.
Currently at $00,000 pledge. Snafu.
