Look beyond his need to be right, and he is actually a pretty personable guy.
I remembered him from alt.comp.sys.spacesim or whatever it was on Usenet and the flamewars that used to happen there and started following him on Twitter for entertainment reasons. We've chatted a bit and he actually promoted a friend of mine's Kickstarter for me.
He's a reasonable guy that gets a boogeyman reputation because he is blunt about Roberts and his clan being crooks and SC not being achievable under the idiot.
I think some people aren't grokking the humour here.
He's a good guy until you disagree with him. That's what i get from his posts and history.

The tone has certainly shifted on there since I last read it, which was a looong while ago.
Reading it now it's 'remarkable' how much broken stuff is still in the game years later.

Yeah, the faithful failed to outvote those who are not happy with things, and once it hit a certain amount it hit the front page.
It also rather begs the question what is plan B for SC and SQ42 if they can't get server meshing to work or work well enough?

There is no SQ42. Not that it would need server meshing in the first place. Thus you can be sure that there is no plan B.
SQ42 would be fine. (well, assuming they ever do it and don't spend the next 10 years reworking the mess hall scene).
SC won't be a problem either. They will just announce whatever the do end up with as being the plan all along and the faithful with memory hole any contradictory information and tell everyone else they don't understand game development.
