Cheating

This is a post to Fdev to be honest but I would welcome your views.

The issue of botting has been an issue for a number of years now but in recent weeks we've had players managing to manipulate and change the dynamics considerably. Some have used IP addresses to track people down to get an instance with them, others have managed to use thargoid tech and the latest one was to insert a ship in game which doesn't 'currently' exist!

Don't get me wrong, I've been playing since 2015 and love the game but to see this nonsense doesn't give me much comfort to continue.

I'd like to know what Fdev are doing about this problem to be honest.

It's my understanding that if FDev catch people breaking EULA and rules .. they issue bans. Probably a better use of resources than chasing their tails trying to proof the game against imaginitive and ingenious hackers.
Understand what you saying but I'd still like fdev to post something over recent events. :)

My biggest issue with cheating is that whenever I think of exploring the galaxy, I know there will be some cheaters out there instantly surveying entire systems and getting their names on there as the first discoverers, while I tread every step with absolute care only to find every system and planet is taken and named by idiots who don't deserve it. Thinking about this really bums me out.

Then don't think about it and start enjoying the game. Works for me. If FDev is not losing its sleep over it why would you?

It's really hard to do that without the prospect of having my CMDR name on some distant star system out there. Why would I go exploring if it's all the same as touring the human bubble? It's much safer and more convenient in the bubble too.

No. It is just that game has been running a while and if you do your exploration with max jump ranges chances are that near the bubble every system you fly through is already discovered.

Or get far enough and out of common routes. From bubble to center straight line, or bubble to Colonia straight line chances of getting undiscovered systems go down dramatically.
