Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I do not know the source or the date on this one. I'm guessing its fresh and in response to the current outrage, someone stepping up to bat for CIG.

And allegedly this one has never posted to /r/sc before

I mean, I don't even understand how they can claim SC is a simulator, and also, what the heck is a Sci-Fi simulator, of course he means a "space game" simulator, which it isn't because it doesn't appear to do physics at all, not even for the star and planets, but sci-fi covers a huge range of subjects most of which are not actually about space at all. Bizarre indeed!

Oh noes, someone who left Sandra for Vanessa is not happy with how Vanessa has been treating him...

Also bonus:

Moderated lol.

He's not spending another dollar on SC either, that's after spending $500 in 60 days, does he realise they don't care, they already have far more money of his money than most people ever spend on a single game. The huge spenders, the whales, are a tiny minority, but if CG can get $500 in the first month from every new player they aren't going to repent or change what they do!

I think they forgot that the "Sci" in SciFi stands for "Science", which SC doesn't do, at least so far.
It's an online marketing venture...why on earth do Ci¬G need science when a rough understanding of basic arithmetic will do just as well?...You know...a simple calculation like 'add silly and thoughtless blog post = subtract backer's patience'

You know what CIG should do right now?

They should issue a clarifying statement saying what they really meant by people having the wrong expectations was they were really referring to refundians! Its all the refundians fault. They are just haters forcing them to do this.

This will give the faithful a target to hate, someone to rally against and shift the blame from CIG!

You see, if you can point to a minority group and blame them for all problems and get people to focus their hate against them, it can work really really well. I think it was some German guy who demonstrated this.
I did nothing like that!

You have to wonder at the mentality behind this decision at CIG. Who thought it was a good idea to blame the backers?

As Kotaku said, its the sort of thing you say after work at the pub, not publicly.

Have CIG drunk so much of their own kool aid they now believe the things they say? Do they listen to the white knights only and accept their view as being the correct one?

When they had a meeting to discuss the post (assuming they had a meeting) who decided it was the right thing to blame the backers? Who approved that? It has to be CR surely. Will CIG throw Jake to the wolves in an effort to absolve themselves?

Star Citizen is actually the perfect game for me. What I’ve noticed over the years is that I almost enjoy the wait for a game more than when its released and I get to sit down and play it. I love reading up news about games, seeing announcement of new features and developer blogs. With Star Citizen never properly releasing I get to watch youtube videos of people dissecting new systems etc and looking forward to the new tech coming in a few years.
The moment Star Citizen releases I know for a fact I will lose all interest, so keep up the current pace CIG!

This is the problem with SC, you can't tell the dreamers from parody.

Ok, because we are so stupid we project too much on what CIG says, maybe time for a "honest translation" on their last monthly report:

AI Content: some new classes have been declared
AI tech: they stared at navmeshes and xml files and inverted an converted array
Animation: several keyframes have been moved, some bones have been weighted
Art (character): artists drew some lines and some concepts were redone
Art (ship): some polygons were added, others deleted, many mesh moved so they can be moved once again later
Community: chocolat medals have been gifted, brainstorm meetings on how to pet fans more fideliciously
Engine: scripts were opened, immediately closed in horror or some variables have been changed
Features (characters & weapons): roughly like Animation
Features (gameplay): some variables tweaked, some actors and meshed added or moved
Graphics & VFX Programming: some lines commented, team continued reading and learning Vulkan API
Lighting: lights were moved, deleted
Locations: Roughly like Art (ship)
Montreal Tools Team: Quebecois have been mighty!
Narrative: team read many novels, comics and watched movies for inspiration
Systemic Services & Tools: dynamics have been scripted
Tech Animation: external sofwares have been updated
UI: many random pretty reworks done without any ergonomy forethoughts, as usual
Vehicle Tech: debugging and reworks on latest things so previous things are even more obsolete
VFX: particle artist played with particle systems
