Making Elite Better

Elite Dangerous needs 2 important things to make it better and epic. First, to be able to create our own base on a planet. With the ability to have domes for farming or storages to hold materials just like the fleet carriers. And of course, to be able to walk inside the base. Protected by a defense system and not detectable on any scanners. Second, at least each faction's home planet has a livable atmosphere with much vegetation, explorable terrain and cities. Ground vehicles would be nice. These 2 things would change all negativity from odyssey. A third good thing would be to have storage units at stations of at least 200 units. It is a hassle to be required to hold all materials when needing to switch to a smaller vessel. I hope this idea makes it to the people that decide these things. Thanks

Probably never happen. This should have been thought of already. Been my favorite game for 2 years but I am bored. Every player should have their own planet to hide on and have mining/drilling machines. I got lots of ideas and designs. But who am I?

Another species of aliens resembling those Area 51. those grey big round head big round eyes and skinny bodies. flying those saucers. divided by war. we can help them. as a prize for helping them we get our own little fighter saucer. help more to get upgrades. No jump ranges. must stay in system with mother ship or fleet carrier. this OfCourse would be in another region on the map.

There are other threads you can contribute to that already list everything you have said here, have a look at those. And no, no humanoid aliens thanks, this isn't Star Trek, and no introducing foreign IP into the game, it already has a background of it's own.

i was more interested in flying the saucer. the galaxy is big enough to use each region for something. I realize people already think about these things. so why doesn't Elite have more things and why is it so repetitious? my first post was to a different thread today. I was told to post in Suggestions.

Although...

We do have alien flora. I'd like to see some fauna too :D

Do you seriously believe that in an 8-year-old game that is not rated well and certainly not well bought, in any great content or major changes? FD doesn't even get the existing and humble content on the consoles right now. Keep dreaming!

I doubt you would like it much - the saucer in the SubLogic flight sim "UFO" was pants. ;)

In truth, if we look at the past versions of Elite there is space (sorry) for other races. The most glaring example is the spaceship Moray StarBoat:

" ... Aquatic space-faring races are the main users of this multi-purpose vessel. "

However, as others have said, not much chance of more major additions since we are 8 years into DB's 10-year plan.

That's not how assets work in ED.

A base would have to be persistent like them carriers.
And that means extra server load - less than a carrier do, but still

Edit: and why would someone want to dig themselves in a planet while having 400 billion stars at their disposal (and thousands and thousands of billions of planets)?

Pedantic point: the slim, big-headed, big-eyed, grey-skinned humanoid isn't any other game's intellectual property. As part of "modern folklore", it would be public domain.

The main problem would be trying to justify yet another race that happens to be at roughly the same stage of development as humanity after billions of years of separate evolution. They'd either be well behind us, or far ahead of us (and all over the galaxy by now).

The Op's request reminds me heavily of No Man's Sky, they could look at that game if they have not already. It get's updated (for free) quite often so has lots of new stuff.

Play another game please if you don't like this one. I think at most if you want to buy something stationary, it should be an apartment you can furnish at a port. Anything else is overkill. If your suggestion does make it into the game, we should be able to raid it and take your stuff

yes, the apartment would be cool but useless. i did say hidden base and not to be found on scanners. but yes, could be raided if someone comes across it. defense turrets if you can afford them. might give CMDRs something to be searching for. hard to find if only one base per planet. and the base NOT be persistent like carriers.

Cheap, disposable, destructable bases might be a fun thing. If they were disconnected from BGS they could create a new vein of "just for fun" PvP activity, fighting for "control" of a planet.

Make them only buildable in uninhabited systems, and massively nerf damage that can be inflicted on them when you are not instanced with the CMDR they belong to (e.g. through a harsh diminishing returns curve). Likewise their weapon systems are only active while their owner is in-instance. So they're vulnerable while being built or while the owning CMDR is trying to attack your nearby bases.

I'm not thinking this through in full btw, but just a fun idea to knock around. And of course I'd always insist they not create system clutter and hit performance.
