Haven’t quite learned to read yet, have you son? It’s ok, words are hard for some people. Buying a PC version of the game does nothing to help me as I don’t own a PC, and if anything it only rewards Frontier for breaking their promise to console players. Why would I spend another $50 on a game I can’t play, and another $500+ on a system I’ll only use to play that game? And taking it out on the game and the developers is by far the BEST way to voice my displeasure at their dropping the ball. Isn’t that how the market works, you voice your displeasure by NOT giving them money? Bah, I don’t have time to give economics lessons to someone who can’t be bothered to learn reading comprehension.Calm down and buy a PC version of the game.
Don't take it out on the game and the developers for not living up to your own hype.![]()
After 2+ years playing on console, this is a literal slap in the face. Thousands of hours completely wasted. I just spent big money on a console compatible flight stick for this game too. I really feel left out, unheard, and frankly. Ripped off. You see, I’m a disabled veteran, on a fixed income, in very rural America, I do not have a PC. I can not afford a pc, but you jerks,” PC Elitists “ I’ll call you from now on. Thank you so much for ruining the most fun I’ve had since pre war years. I hope you can’t sleep at night knowing your no better than that tease in high school, stringing guys along for years, just to brutally put them down and dump them on prom night. This news literally made me sick to my stomach. Bravo Chaps! You guys ought to join forces with Games Workshop! You could screw the whole gaming community that way!!!Greetings Commanders,
Elite Dangerous is a game close to my heart.
It’s no secret that Odyssey’s launch was less than ideal, including the need to split the PC/console player base to focus on a PC-only launch. Since Odyssey’s release in May 2021, we have worked tirelessly to improve the Odyssey experience on PC, and whilst we have made great progress there is still more to be done. We have been supporting the pre-Odyssey and post-Odyssey codebases since.
Over the last several months, we have been wrestling with the best way to move forward, and it is with a heavy heart we have decided to cancel all console development. We need to be able to move forward with the story of the game, and in order for us to do this we need to focus on a single codebase. Elite Dangerous will continue on console as it is now together with critical updates, but we will focus on new content updates on PC on the post-Odyssey codebase.
We appreciate this news is not what our console community were hoping for. This was not an easy decision to make, but it was made with the long-term future of Elite Dangerous in mind.

I am a PC player, and we are not your enemy, as a VR player, I feel your pain. WRT you being a veteran, thank you for your service sir. As for FDev joining forces with games workshop, thay are already collaborating on FDev making warhammer games, amke of that what you will. After 2+ years playing on console, this is a literal slap in the face. So admitt3dly Odyssey has made the game worse for those who purchased it? They WHY are they going to continually sink money into it AT THE EXPENSE of further developments for the console crowd? “Man, this new recipe is blander and has the side effect of making diners sh!+ themselves uncontrollably! Well, cancel the other dishes until we figure out our diaper salad!”Actually it’s not an inferior product, it’s just fomo.
The positives are you get a new ui, and good planet surfaces from the new foot perspective.
Sadly, there are significant negatives that you don’t suffer in horizons. Mainly the visuals of the space game are materially worse, the system requirements to run it at an average expectation probably double or triple the requirements for horizons, excluding many existing players. There’s also no new content in odysee for many people, it’s only a ui and graphics update.
If it was just a performance issue I’d even forgive them but it’s not… space looks like a black wall with white dots, and a significant percentage of planets will trigger you to not believing you’re in space anymore when you see them. “No that can’t be it that’s got to be a bug.”
The only people who are included in odd are gameplay / stat focused players who are finished with the space game and have left it behind, and have upgraded to a mid range plus gaming pc since the nvidia 20xx range.
Not superior.
What is a "post-Odyssey codebase?" Is Oddysey being abandoned? Or is this bolt-on being better integrated into the game (with full VR for instance)? When will FDev reveal more of the plan?Greetings Commanders,

AMENI'm very angry, thousands of hours of play, faction in game (capsule corp interstellar), large network of players, many paints purchased, all this reduced to nothing?
You cannot deprive us of the transfer of backups, you have a duty to allow us to transfer our backups.

I see this philosophy isn't exclusive of Apple:Content creators rubbishing the game since their little "roundtable". Concerted efforts by players to review bomb it, and drive Frontier's share prices down. Constant insults of their employees incessantly on the forums. Developers and CMs getting threatened and harassed on their personal social medias.
Right now , the only thing they can do is using thee ignore engine grade 5 and hoping on all consoles players just leave so they don't have to transfer anythingAMEN
'Abrazos, no balazos'Yamiks is a toxic clown who milked this game for hatesubs for at least a year before he finally got binned off from here and from any official recognition when FDev had had enough of him. His role in any downfall would be minimal because to suggest otherwise would be affording him a level of importance which he just doesn't have but he certainly contributed to the peanut gallery. He was the Richard Hammond of streamers though, an irritating little sycophant scampering around the big boy's table.
When I read this, I presumed this meant the codebase after a certain date, perhaps Odyssey's release or an update. My impression of what that means, not official, obviously. What is a "post-Odyssey codebase?" Is Oddysey being abandoned?
