I bought the game a week ago on PS4, what is wrong with you

Why do you let people buy this game on the Playstation store when you obviously knew that you are going to full on abandon that platform? I want a refund and I'd like you to take the game off the Playstation store. I was misled to believe this game has an active community on PS4. I'm angry and to me this is not only financially troublesome, i also feel scammed.

That's only true for now. How many players will keep playing if we're not getting any updates? How long will FDev keep the servers running if console players keep leaving?
I understand that sentiment, however people play for different reasons. Of course it's a hard blow if you expected to be part of a team for years to come. The community will be smaller. But there will be players there for you to meet.
However others may play to enjoy space, explore, do a bit of fighting and 'generally just play'.

It is still 'playable', what you want out of it is up to each and one of you of course.

You can still play if you want, today, tomorrow. Next month, next year. The platform stays up, it just doesn't get new versions in the future.
The only thing preventing your from enjoying the game is your mind, open it up and you can still enjoy it. :)
The thing preventing me from enjoying the game is that I was led to believe that there is an update coming. I was led to believe that there is a bustling universe of players that changes and adapts. But all I got is a dead game that got abandoned a week after I bought it. I don't want to spend hundreds of hours on a game that requires me to buy it again, and a computer that can run it, just so I can experience what frontier has led me to believe I was going to get. I get your point though.

I can relate, and you do have my sympathy.
But again, if you chose to do so you can still rack up a few hundred / thousands of hours of fun. But I can see it's hard to do it at these times, with these grim news.
Perhaps a bit later. Stay safe. o7

Honestly, even if they had brought Odyssey to Playstation, in the state it looks on PC, I wouldn't have bought it anyway. It's obvious they don't have devs able to make it run on the most powerful PC's, let alone consoles. I will keep playing Horizons for as long as they keep the servers up (maybe in the future, they could have an offline version for consoles? Who knows) and enjoy the time left.

But I do see the people's point, who bought the game for a future Odyssey update for consoles. That's FDEV for you, not letting people know what's going on. But if you peruse the forum a little bit, the writing's on the wall.

I hear your pain 😞.

There is still content within the game to enjoy but it's hard knowing that the promised content and support has been pulled. Frontier don't have the best record when it comes to support. Just ask Mac players.

Maybe if they drop the base price to around £5-10, or even make it free to play it might encourage players to remain on console.

As a former macOS commander I agree.

Fortunately, the account that I got from Frontier allowed me to use both macOS and Windows versions, so when the macOS client was disconnected, I could play on using my iMac and a Bootcamp partition.

Frontier offered no support for those playing in Bootcamp.

The servers will remain for the forseeable future.

One day they will turn them off one day, same as for PC. When that will be, nobody knows.

Given that there will be a exodus from console ED now given that they are down and out how long will it be before there isnt enough players to warrant the game being on there, yeah the background simulation will be the same as everyone elses but when there isnt enough players to 'play it' is it still a viable option to leave it up and running? Also as for the story will they get a story arc or will the servers be static as development has now gone to Odyssey for most of the time?

It’s £5 on the UK PS Store, bargain bin.

I appreciate the way you feel.

I haven't checked the PS Store but FD should make notice that the support for the game has been dropped and give specific details of what to expect if the game is bought; even at a bargain bin price.

If I was in the UK I would be thinking seriously about the Consumer Law given the way the game has been sold to you and at what price. However I'm not in the UK's jurisdiction....
