Because I have wasted my time, as the game is no longer supported on my console but it is on the pc. FD will have to answer to this and my guess is they will ignore the claim, then by default the claimant will win..How exactly was that time now wasted? You can't go back and un-enjoy your spent leisure time.

Yes, it seems so.
But the PC players have the option to buy EDO, an option not available for Consolers - that's why the thread title is aimed at Consoles mainly (when EDO arrives on consoles? is also the main question being asked in the last 6+ months)

They may have decided to abandon all of us out of the blue and not set up a transfer system before hand.
But I agree, as mad as I am they don't owe us anything technically.
But they do owe us on a personal level. If they have a single shred of decency (doubtful) they would actually work for once on a full transfer solution.
But this is FD, probably they won't lift a finger and will announce two years from now that it is not possible.
So how am i going to play a game I paid for, including all the addons I have purchased.. Simple UK consumer law, " goods not fit for purpose"

Servers will still be running for Consoles version of Elite.
However, you cannot expect the game to run forever, there will be a time when this version Elite will by shut off completely - PC included
And at that point the item is not fit for purpose.. simple UK consumer law covers this..

I spent 30 years of my life playing footy religiously until my knees caught up with me. I'm now looking into hiring a solicitor to sue everyone I've ever been on a pitch with to seek compensation for all that time wasted!
I know you're a little sad right now but once you calm down and have a Snickers you'll realise that the reality is you can still enjoy all the content you have and the only thing you won't get to do is play Odyssey on console.

That's your opinion and conclusion to the announcement. What you're saying is Microsoft and Sony are incapable of building a console that supports 1000s of games and quite a few that are cross compatible on multiple formats. Elite scrapped MAC and now it's the consoles turn, they clearly can't make their game run righ
The thing is, I didn't buy a new xbox because one or two games ported across. And the price of a new xbox compared to a reasonable gaming PC small. I have no plans to buy a PC and definitely not just for Elite. The game isn't worth playing now with no future, it's a sinking ship in regards to consoles so I'll be jumping now and waste no more time.
They promised full parity.
They promised odyssey.
Then they abandoned us without setting up a dedicated system for full profile transfers.
That is backstabbing.
Had they set up a transfer system ahead of time or layed out in detail what they were aiming for, we wouldn't be anywhere near as upset.
But they didn't.

Well now you have no choice. Eventually Horizons will die and you'll have to embrace and pay for Odyssey or walk away.
It's happened many times before on different computers & consoles & games. It sucks but it is what it is and it certainly isn't something new or unique to FDev or even the game industry as a whole. This isn't a marriage, though as I've said, I very much understand how you feel having experienced similar situations, even if you don't believe that.
I'll not second guess their approach and I agree with you it may have been better to have done that, though as I've said, that could have been taken as a whole nother slap in the face, maybe they wanted to clear the air first, who knows? FDev did respond very quickly to the question of account transfers that they are evaluating their options and will announce when/if plans are ready. I hope they figure it out quickly.
Not being a fanboy, I've criticized FDev in the past and will continue to. I also don't need your permission to respond if I feel the need to either. o7
I'll give them a year before they completely abandon it and delist the game from ps and Xbox.
It'll be two years before they remember to tell an intern to tweet out "full profile transfers are not possible" after forgetting to even try to make it work.
