in another forum i am a member of (i actually thought it was here but it must be the other one then) Mods had 2 posting modes, as a user, where they had the same privalages as everyone else and as a mod....sometimes! (Rate my clickbait)

if they posted as a user that was fine, but they were not allowed to mod their own comments, the only issue then would be if they accidentally posted using the wrong flag.
i could never be a mod tho i respect what they do. I dont instigate being mean or angry at people (or at least i dont think i do).................................. but i fully admit I am like a moth to a flame when it comes to responding to other people if I think they say something out of order.... which is definitely not something a mod can do. I am easily triggered i guess

it's been closed down now but many many years ago there was a bot which translated any web page you put into it into "Mr T" (T'inator) (there were loads of other variants too). I bookmarked some of my webpages running through it until a work killjoy told me it was unprofessional if anyone saw my screen. but I digress.
