Update 11.1 Patch Notes

Re Aliasing, AMD FSR is activating by default from Update 11 onwards and at lower settings like Balanced and Performance it really exaggerates aliasing, even at Quality too but I find it bearable at Quality for the gift of 4K resolution! Might be worth double-checking its not switched itself on your machine.
Thanks, it's not turned on. It's set to "normal". I've set everything to a different value and back just to make sure it applies. I've even deleted the contents of the graphics folder and let it recreate it from scratch. Nothing has made it look as well as it was in Update 10. Granted, aliasing was not great back then, but certainly better than now.

Thanks again!

This posting deserves many likes. Not because of the actual content of the patch, but because you did what the CMs apparently could not be bothered to do any more: put the actual info of the patch notes into the thread about patch notes.
Well, they recently said they're trying to put Frontier Elite website to more use. I guess it's their way of promoting it.
And honestly it's not really problematic to follow one link to see patch notes. They would achieve almost the same effect hiding them under spoiler tag.
So maybe let's not look for problems where there are none.

Hi all. Feedback on 11.1:

- Visible tearing on the vertical "speed" lines during Supercruise has been fixed! Perhaps a minor issue but also maybe indicative of improved performance. Or maybe a new graphics card driver or reprofiling fixed it, don't know. Bottom line, performance seems better while in SC and space in general.

- Aliasing continues to be the worst I've seen in ED so far, and it's there in EDO and EDH. It started with Update 11, and remains in 11.1. Starting with Update 9 or so, I was able to turn off AA entirely to get maximum render clarity, while sacrificing aliasing at medium and long distances. Up close, like inside of a station, it looked spectacular. Now there's aliasing present at nearly all distances despite different settings. Rendering seems not as clear as before, as if there's some sort of hardcoded scaling that doesn't change with settings. EDO is much worse than EDH.

- More on the lolz side, Autodock computer bumps my ship on the way out 75% of the time. It then reverses and bumps it again a few more times before finding the mail slot to get out. Perhaps it can't see clearly with all those jaggies floating around lol.

Thanks!
Aliasing - I really didnt notive a change in U11 compared to U10 or before maybe it is was bad and now its even worst :)
- ANTIALIASING is basically existing - but not everywhere. You can see good ANTI- Aliasing in some areas (f.e. check the holo of your ship and the shield rings in the cockpit to see good AA) - but most outlines of objects - and especially when the contrast is high the lack of ANTIALIASING degrades the visible quality. And as AMD FSR makes it even worst (even in BEST QUALITY setting) I did disable it and now running native 3440x1440. Fortuntly ths FPS are better then at beginning of EDO and with my PC is good enough not to need AMD FSR.
If you want to see ALIASING even worst - just activate NIGHT VISION... we could also call it the maximum aliasing mode...

Weirdly tho, the bar takes up 150T on the carrier, while a fully A-rated Sidey weighs in at less than a third of that.

(Still maintain the bar should be included in the standard carrier layout and be free from upkeep)
It`s All the Booze it stocks, which you cannot access in game. , such a shame it wasn`t included, in actions for CMDRs with sitting on stools & chairs etc. May be due to a PEGI rating?

Odyssey is PEGI 16 which includes- The use of tobacco and alcohol may be encouraged, and the game can feature the use of illegal drugs

So we need alcohol, drugs and tobacco in the game!

I wonder what would happen if at some point they offer EDO free to EDH owners..? I imagine that would be impossible due to PEGI ratings?

Not sure, but I think they would only need to include a 'how old are you' form prior to download.

ETA: Actually... By law, a child cannot buy a PEGI 12, 16 or 18 rated game in a shop if they're under the age specified in the rating. However, there is no similar law that governs the downloading of online games. That's where setting parental controls comes in.

I am not claiming that it is a big problem. But i still feel like it is yet another step down from what we had up to now. Sure, it's not a big deal to click a link. But it would also not be a big deal for a CM to put he info into the posting, like it was done all the years before.

And on the topic of moving away from the forums and over to the web site: i guess they do this as they want to keep the "awesome great news, there is a patch" seperate from all the voices stating how unhappy they are with the state of the game and how much there still is to do. I really see no other possible reason for this step, as the established method worked perfectly fine for almost a decade, the community was used to it and it was appreciated.

You can easily find lots of evidence in the forums to dispute the highlighted claims.

Personally I am in two minds about this, the positive is it will be much easier to find the notes, the negative is we will lose a lot of the interaction with/about the notes.

Ah... i expected bold, but you made it italic... now i see your highlights. And yea, you can dispute if it worked perfectly fine. It certainly is a matter of taste. And yes, putting all together at one place is sure better than spreading it over twitter, the forum, reddit, a website and whatever other means of communication they just might have come up with. But all the feedback at that time also was just "keep it together in the forum". (And drop links to it to the other media, if you want to use them. )

But the negative you state at th end is basically what i mean: the website seperate from our feedback. So it's all the casual person might see, while the feedback is hidden away somewhere else.

It's not like this place is shutting down and I always felt that it's not the best place to post news in clear manner that allows you to catch them quickly - it's probably ok for long time forum members who learned how it works and how to make it work for them, but usually people from outside don't visit and when they do, they don't even know where to look for those news and ask question in dangerous forum section, or in Jurrasic World section instead. Sometimes thread will get updated with new info and you'll not know it without checking first post again, other times some information is buried between hundreds of pointless posts deep down the thread. I just think Elite could use some clean board for communicating things without the mess people do all around it - and we can still have discussions and complaints here, even if you need to read patch notes on the other site.

Auto dock/launch is getting really bad; tried landing at Eotienses/Adams Market today - 10min on the clock and npcs blocking the slot with no movement. Relogged to main menu and no effect. Difference between EDH and EDO is really telling a story. Just heard T-9 blocking slot was destroyed - pushed my way past just to get in. We'll see how auto launch does to day, yesterday it was a total mess and not to be trusted in anyway.

@Paul_Crowther worse today - auto launch cannot be used without damage and possible destruction; also npcs not moving and blocking exit slot inside station (Adams Market/ Eotienses).

May be the NPCs are staging a strike now we are sitting down. 🙃

Please transfer our console team mates with full kit and where is the Guardian SLF fix please?

@Paul_Crowther thanks, so much better today. Approach to slot now smooth and very similar to XBSX auto launch. No NPCs lurking in the way either. Pass on our thanks to the programmers for the quick response o7 :)

I'm not sure if this is just affecting me, or if it's more widespread. Planets used to be visible in the distance as a shining few pixels. Since patch 11 (possibly 11.1) they appear initially then blink out of existence, and the only indicator that a planet is there is its name. Even when getting closer, you can see the gravity well circles, but still no visible shining dots of a planet. It's only when it starts rendering the actual planet itself does it reappear, which requires you to be quite close, less than 25 ls depending on planet size.

Can anyone else confirm this behavior, or do I need to start troubleshooting?

There was a thread detailing this exact problem a couple of days ago. You're not alone.

It's just to keep it neutral, a lot of news sites have removed comments from their articles as they inevitably descend into bickering and arguing about who killed who and frankly it's not necessary for those who just want to read the article and move on. Everyone can still go on to discuss it further wherever they choose.
