Guys, listen up:

I was reading the DLC info on Steam, and guess what?! Under the subheading "8 Fascinating Animals", the paragraph explicitly says "The Wetlands Animal Pack contains many of the community's most requested animals in" [...] "Bring these fan-favourite animals into your existing zoos..."

This just goes to show how much the team really uses the meta-wishlists

Well, they had us in the first half!

I'm too bamboozled to know my own response to this pack, but I'd like to react on each animal individually:
  • Capybara: no words needed. YES!
  • Asian Small-Clawed Otter: ABSOLUTE YES!!!
  • Water Buffalo: an absolute surprise, but one that makes sense with the rice terrace hint and one that I'll give a beautiful place in my zoo!
  • Red-Crowned Crane: really surprising, but I'm so happy we're finally getting another bird!
  • Platypus: a most-wanted by many players, so I'm happy for them. I love that we're getting it, but not sure how fast I'll use it.
  • Nile Lechwe: interesting and surprising choice, but not my favourite.
  • Spectacled Caiman: mixed on this one. I'd exchange it for a dozen other species, but at the same time it's nice to have one of the most commonly kept crocodylians in the game.
  • Danube Crested Newt: well, no one would've predicted this. It's the first time I hear about it to be honest. Again not my preference (green anaconda, crocodile lizard or helmeted basilisk would've been preferred), but I do admire Frontier for picking the less famous species.
All in all, I think the pack offers some greatly desired species, but also leaves some things to be desired. I would've personally included a pelican, snapping turtle and perhaps even a water monitor. At the same time I feel like the inclusion of less high-demand species may mean that we have a longer future of DLCs yet to come!

Edit: Another thing I like about this pack is that it only has one carnivoran and it's a small high-demand species. It seems like Frontier is also listening to the demand to include fewer carnivorans and focus more on smaller animals.
