DLC Theme's Probable for PZ Year 3

Seeing the biodiversity that Wetlands pack brought to Planet Zoo it's getting more obvious Rainforest biome needs "reinforcements"

It will be easely to fit just 7 tropical forests animals, I think devs would need creating two 7-animals's pack if they wanted to cover the main biodiversity from those regions.

A "primate pack" would be so good
Lol 7? Maybe 25 lol.

Islands Pack (Summer, Scenery)

  • Kiwi (68 votes between all species)
  • Lord Howe Island stick insect (leaked)
Drylands (Fall/Late Summer, Animal)
  • Przewalski's horse (Flagship,180 votes)
  • Maned wolf (161 votes)
  • African crested porcupine (154 votes)
  • Emu (136 votes)
  • Common wombat (113 votes)
  • Hamadryas baboon (106) votes
  • Bighorn sheep (26 votes)
  • Veiled chameleon as the exhibit animal
Asia (Winter, Scenery)

  • Gibbon (161 votes for any species)
  • Takin (79 votes for any species)
  • Golden pheasant (8 votes)
  • Chinese or Japanese giant salamander for exhibit.

I updated that in the OP as well

I would sign this

Sadly the likes of Andean Bear or Wolverine don't fit those packs. But if we're left with only three DLCs, this is the model I wouldn't complain about.

Noted I don't believe we're left with only three but that's to be seen next year

If this is the route we go, and unfortunately I think it is (meaning no aviaries this year), then Central America is a prime candidate for a pack, so is "Forests", combining both temperate and tropical rainforest animals. And then maybe aviaries and endangered species to end it. Maybe I'll make those too. CA would be a scenery pack, Forests an Animal pack, and then the last two no idea.

I would be very happy if it does end up being included. But there's tough competition in Asia
The wolverine is currently the fourth highest-ranking Asian animal on the meta-wishlist.

I think at this point we can take the Amur leopard and Przewalski's horse as a given considering their respective popularity. Amur leopard has 114 votes, 154 counting indifferent leopard votes, Przewalski's horse has 180 votes, making it the highest ranking animal now that the capybara is here - technically the leopard ranks higher but only based on including all subspecies. Next is the lar gibbon, with 149 votes, but including the gibbon is no sure thing due to potential technical constraints.

Wolverine comes in at 117 votes and could be built out of the European badger rig. After that we don't get another Asian animal until the red fox at 86 votes, red deer at 85 (despite the popularity, I think the Pere David's is more likely thematically), then the takin at 79.

If I had to hazard a guess as to a winter-themed Asia Pack, it would be a scenery pack including the Amur leopard, Przewalski's horse, wolverine, and golden takin, and perhaps a giant salamander or fire-bellied newt, or a Chinese pond turtle or something, and include an expansion on the East Asia theme (kind of like how the Africa Pack expanded on the plaster theme while including new Arabesque bits), with a stronger focus on Chinese stone architecture and Tibetan architecture.

Frankly it isn't ideal, but it feels realistic. I know the meta-wishlist isn't the only metric for what they would include (spectacled caiman, water buffalo, Nile lechwe) but in terms of making presumptions it's the best resource we have.

Oh, I had no idea that Wolverine, Red Deer and Fox would be the most popular Asian animals after Gibbon.

When you put it that way it seems way more plausible. Specially after it's omitance from NA and EU packs

Frankly, I'm not convinced these three animals would still rank so highly on a new list, considering viable alternatives have been added, but if Frontier is watching the list as closely as it seems and planning their DLC as far back as they seem to be, then they are the most likely contenders for being added.

I understand your doubts about the red deer. Not sure about the fox. Definetely disagree on the wolverine, it seems to be a very popular choice and I don't think a badger is enough to replace a wolverine.

Seconded. I don't believe there's any replacement for Wolverine. It is a mustelid, but it's on its own level.

I do hope we get it down the line. But to go back to my original comment, if this is the last year and its ommitted from Asia pack I would understand

For me,
Marine pack :
  • Walrus
  • Sea otter
  • Sea turtle
  • Puffin
  • Jellyfish
Oceania animal pack:
  • Wombat
  • Kiwi
  • Emu
  • Tasmanian devil
  • Tree kangaroo
  • Perentie
  • Bilby
  • Gecko
Grassland pack :
  • African leopard
  • Crested purcopine
  • Eland
  • Secretary bird
  • Chameleon

I would say these definitely aren't probable though. A marine pack is highly unlikely, and it doesn't make sense to do a grasslands pack as a scenery pack.

I don't see what's so improbable about an Oceania Pack though. Besides vague themes like 'islands' it's the surest way to get some high-ranking animals into the game.

I haven't posted here yet, but I've been thinking about this too. Here are my thoughts assuming that we are going to alternate between standard and animal packs and that we are not getting birds:

Summer 2022: Far East Pack (based on the Japanese tori gate that was supposedly leaked)

A1 - Asia copy.jpg

This is the Far East region map, so even if many people think that an Asia pack would fit better in winter, I think it's a good match for summer too:

Fall 2022: Oceania Animal Pack

Winter 2022: Canada Pack

This pack would be more focused on building pieces: horizontal log set, more stones, native art, totems...

Depending on if the scenery/animal alternation continues or if we get a second animal pack in a row, I predict either:

Middle East Pack:
  • Dromedary camel
  • Caracal
  • Hamadryas baboon
  • Crested porcupine
  • Veiled chameleon (exhibit)
or

Desert Animal Pack:
  • Dromedary camel
  • Scimitar-horned oryx
  • Caracal
  • White-nosed coati
  • Hamadryas baboon
  • Patagonian mara
  • Emu
  • Bearded dragon (exhibit)
