Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Is there any tier-1 or more something? I mean really, not tier-0 implementation of tier-1 something.
  • Mining was, at some point, through it's now broken in multiple ways because they added other features in their spaghetti code. If they fix these it's back to t1.
  • I think reputation system (you gain rep for factions when you complete missions) is also t1. You now get different missions depending on your rep. Did not have any issue with it.
  • Hover bike physics (t0.5 ? it's still really bad), they went through a complete rework for that.
  • for 3.17 (still in PTU but that feature seems delivered): repair/refuel was reworked, provided it's not completely broken again...

Not 'still', the word you are looking for is ONLY, only looks better than Elite and that is all SC does, looks good in still screenshots.
you missed some 'only'... and ONLY do better ship interior, and ONLY do better EVA, and ONLY do better combined arms, and ONLY do better planets, and ONLY do better weather, and ONLY do better clouds, and ONLY do better immersion, and ONLY do better damage state, and ONLY do better selection of ships/ground vehicle, and ONLY do better caves, and ONLY do better selection of firearms...

Yes, when it's an actual game it will be great.......

All in one buggy alpha...

Gamers playing of all of this in the actual alpha now. So the response to 'when' is 'now'.

No, it's not a game yet, there's a difference between game play and an actual game, it's not a game, it's an Alpha, I won't play it until it's a released game, I might one day test the Alpha if it becomes stable enough to be worth my time, but I won't actually play it as a game, because it isn't. There's a big difference.

Let's check in on some clips from the last 24hrs...

"Go out the ramp! We've got to go out the ramp!"

* Goes out the ramp *

"Be in your ship. Everything's going to be way better for you. You're not going to get a box stuck in your hands. You won't get confused and angry. You won't end up like this. Just don't ever land your ship. Don't do it. Stay in space."

* Stays in ship *

* Enjoys the vastly improved space pew... *

Well, 10+ years since development start (confirmed by CR himself at least in 2011), you white knight!

Nah, this is how you white knight... clears throat

---

You all said CIG could never do water, but now players bathe in their 890 hot tubs! Yet still you refuse to recognise the oceans of possibility that SC is charting. Nobody else has realised nostril interiors in the same way. Or concepted larger aliens. Or unified more ways to clip items through other items in one single place.

Just last night Commando Spleef fell through a cave floor and navigated his way back out over two hours using nothing but FOIP and the resources of his small org. These are the reasons that Star Citizen is already light years ahead of the competition, and completely out the other side of the looking glass.

I shall now leave you with a video of Drew Wager turning a light switch on and off for over an hour.

In the context of staggered development and quarterly patches - less than two months after releasing their last expansion, NMS is getting this:
The team at Hello Games consists of about thirty people.
