I hate valuable planets suckers

I'm out in the black exploring and, from time to time, I get into a system with a valuable planet, like a water world. The system might have many more planets but none are explored. The only one discovered is the valuable one. That really sucks. Those players who "hunt" for valuables so they can put their name in "first discovered by" are despicable, not true explorers.

There are plenty of unexplored water worlds and earthlikes in the black so long as you stay off the trodden paths. I agree though - it is indeed irritating. And it gets worse with the system mass code exploit (and the search bar that accommodates it) which shouldn´t have existed to begin with.

Agreed, as someone who also ends up being a janitor for all the unmapped "junk". Wish those firsts paid a large flat bonus instead of a multiplier, so even those icy planets wouldn't get ignored.

TBH, Earth-likes, Waters, and Ammonia (and terraformables too I guess) are the only things worth anything for mapping - and if you're mainly transiting to somewhere it makes sense to only explore stuff that you deem worthy of the detour.

As someone who deliberately goes around scanning only the valuable planets, it's good to know that my efforts to irritate other players are not in vain.

Terraformable HMCs are worth more than non-terraformable WWs. Just FYI

That was common for the pre-FSS times... when one had to fly to each and every planet to "discover" it
So people were cherry picking planets that had a chance to be ELW

Oh I know they are, but yeah for anyone that doesn't it's good to know. Terraformable HMCs are often ignored by the "planet suckers" too as they're in the "junk" part of the scanner spectrum.

Many times I've visited a system and sucked up a couple of t-HMCs that the amateur suckers have ignored in favor of a less valuable WW.
Those fools entertain me even more than the people who get mad that we both ignored the rest of the system

Well, you could argue that people who get upset about that kind of thing aren't true explorers either.

I'm curious now - if I were to go and scan/map ONLY the low value bodies, would the same salty-completionists be complaining that I'd ignored the ELWs, or are they solely motivated by greed?

When I fly by a ringed gas giant, I tend to map the rings, but never the planet itself.

How do I qualify?
