Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I can practically guarantee it :)

With Invictus coming up, all pretence of game development will cease whilst the various teams not directly involved with Sqn 404 will be pressganged in from whatever they're doing to provide a visual sales platform for the marketing team...happens at least 4 times a year these days. Just imagine...that's an entire quarter of a year (at a minimum) where game devs at Ci¬G aren't being allowed to further the development of star citizen and are doing little else bar largely throw-away preparatory work for an in game ship sales event 🤐

Maybe this time we can tour the Javelin's bathrooms? (While NPCs show off their new hygiene technology )

I too can know a whole company's intent just by the broken buggy mechanics they push out. In my head, everything works perfectly, in a living breathing world full of p00ping, bartending and coffee making NPCs indistinguishable from humans.

Good thing too, cause no more than 50 people can exist in the universe at any one time.

For some of us that's 49 to many! ;)

One of the things i forgot about it was the yawning NPC's and random comments of "this is boring" someone at CIG has a sense of humour.

Yeah there was a lot of sass from the browsing NPCs!

EDIT: Mind you, the devs have gone rogue occasionally, going by this old Starfarer asset ;)

Legacy physics from Cryengine, they are doing some work with physics but really the whole thing needs to be pulled out and redone.

Have they stated that outright regarding the ship/wind issue?

(I don't think rope physics is going to fix it. Unless players have to start mooring them when they land ;))

No,not that i know of.

The physic engine in Cryengine (Bullet Physics) is not designed for things that weigh 400 tonnes, its only really for small prop objects.

For example.....

So ships that weigh many tonnes don't really behave any differently to a box in gravity, so they get blown around be strong winds.

You'd have thought they would have thought about that when they started... or when Chris was hard at work the other year refactoring the physics engine (LOL!)
