[Spoiler thread] New vehicles - Thargoid / Guardian on foot arts

The fact that this artwork is now available is by no means evidence it’s in game, rather it’s more likely omitted content which hit its retention period.

There exists a lot of similar artwork for this game, much of it several years old, showcasing the same type of content.

Due to that assessment alone I doubt this is news, but just identifies an historical period in ED development, more likely it highlights a variant timeline on where ED ‘was to go’ but hasn’t. FD proposed a number of different SRVs SO long ago but they never materialised.

The current SRV code was known about a year prior to EDO launch, as was the code for Thargoids on legs. This artwork IMPO is not worth getting excited about. It’s just artwork which hit its retention period and is ‘safe’ to publish as it doesn’t relate any longer.

On that logic alone, FD would not allow such artwork out in the public domain, it is not leaked code.

The content provider hosting the video is well known for promoting a very ‘positive’ spin on FD news, I would advise everyone to take off their rose tinted glasses, too much faith is placed upon the shoulders of FD as progressively developing this game, as a backer I see no evidence of that, FD themselves admitted their roadmap as ‘flexible’, and have dropped a considerable level of ‘proposed’ content (much of it amazing) in favour of something simple and cost effective.

Just look at the concepts for Elite Feet and compare it with Odyssey to see how divergent their plans were against what gets green lit.

Nothing new here... all has been seen before.
Two pictures of "spoiler" and the rest is only "bla bla bla" without ANY "news"

And maybe (!!) the shown truck is only the concept for the loading trucks, which are driving in the stations...

The beluga ship turned out very, very different from its concept art so.. could be anything.

I prefer the classic bug leak better. Making them humanoid is assuming the worst in the movie going audience. Can you imagine them running around like people while the arthur tolmie voice in the game goes "lasers for shields, bullets for armor, you know the drill" while shooting bug men on 2 legs ducking behind cover?

This isn't even that funny.. note the armor that humans wear.

I reckon the Tharg concept art from the confirmed leak is probably a bit more reliable for now ;). Or at least a better steer on their likely plans for the game.

The truck is fun, but doesn't look like something the current SRV bays could transport. More likely a location asset that's been dabbled with perhaps.

(FDev did dabble with concepts of larger player vehicles seemingly. You can see some snippets here from the 2016 digital art book. But again they don't seem to be hugely practical given the current bay size.)

The one thing that rings true is that it would make sense for Frontier to change Thargoids to be bipedal since that's easier to implement.

My first thought of the truck was that it was concept art for those mini trucks we see in stations , it would make sense they were hypothetically carrying fuel and/or ship parts in this containers.

Even though it's not a big deal, I can already make out two new objects that should have been introduced only recently: a larger plate on the floor in front of the Pioneer Supply counter (but also a smaller one elsewhere) and a kind of yellow box lift on many planetary installations. Even though neither has any functionality yet, I find it remarkable that they seem to have appeared only after the last patch. Assuming I haven't overlooked them before, which seems unlikely to me, these would be the first indications that they can even "inject" graphic elements into the running game without having to rely on a patch.

In addition, in a certain free-standing smaller room on planetary installations that always has the same dimensions (once angled) and, if present, is usually my first port of call for a terminal, certain items are quite obviously randomly generated. Such as crates that can be opened (rather rarely, but can be one or even 2), rarely sometimes stacks of tyres usually (but not always) near the terminal. Seems to be the first timid attempt to bring a little more dynamism into the installations.

That would be great! Again, if I'm not hallucinating, because I still can't imagine how they do it...
The yellow box lift was brought in for Update 11 and is used in the new Defensive Mission type in Settlements.

how would diplomacy even be implemented in Elite dangerous other than a form of powerplay at the minor faction level?

And since it would be kind of like powerplay (without the pledging and bonuses), it's effectively never going to happen as per the rule of "Never working on PP unless absolutely forced to" rule of 2016.

Business as usual, none of this will ever appear in game. Noone gives a toss about Elite at Fdev, they are all busy making F1 management game, which will be a E grade game about an F-tier "sport".
You're right. The concept art isn't a thargoid, it's the Bernie Ecclestone avatar from the F1 game

I think it maybe speaks to how desparate some players are for some good news, that these 'concepts' are getting people excited.
This is bottom of the barrel for me in terms of 'bright future' wishful thinking.

I have no idea, but according to FDev it's in Odyssey, so I guess they figured it out 🤷‍♂️
