If you're wondering where Frontier's attention is directed at...

The written document that was published at the time was quite widely discussed on the forum.
Didn't receive the memo... 🤔 #Sarcasm

No they don't get refunded. It's one reason why Premium Currencies are not a good thing imo.
Maybe buying trying eggs with the current ARX balance would be a good investment... golden trying eggs to be in my portifolio as a new currency spread standard. SOON(TM)

No thanks.

Though just to say that the reason Elite isn't on that chart, is that it has never been on that chart. So for the three years that chart has been in the annual report it's only been the planet and JWE games.

To be honest I'm more curious about who Emma Deverell is and why what seems to be video of a private zoom call discussing a company's finances, is publically accessible on the internet?
I believe they're made because they are a PLC, and they are available to shareholders on request, or part of the AGM for those who can't attend. They've certainly been posted by someone who gets the link somehow, before.

Would love to see the "Net cumulative cash flow" line for elite. Are they allowed to leave it out? It would be off the chart in the other direction assuming "100 developers"?
They have a lot more games on sale than the four included in that chart. ED would be inconvenient to include at any rate since they only gave themselves room for five years of revenue history. If they compressed the graph to make ED fit, it would be even harder to see the short spike of JWE2 revenue that he actually wanted to talk about there.

We played for about 2 weeks? There were bugs of course but they weren't the main issue. The feedback I got from my friends was similiar in sentiment for myself. They felt that Elite Dangerous required too much time investment to play sustainably. i.e. We all have daily jobs and don't really have hours to dedicate to the mundane relogging grind, searching of Odyssey outposts for materials, long supercruise travel times, yet we still love the game. It just feels like a chore to play and not really friendly to casual players.

I know the game is meant to be "Hard", "Dangerous", whatever you want to call it. Everyone has differing opinions and I respect that. I just wish it was more casual friendly so I could log in for 1-2 hours a day and still feel like I'm making progress.

Thank you for reading the second part if you did.
For sure. Its why I dont even recommend this game to my friends. We have a library of games we can just pick and have fun within literally 1-2 minutes. Just getting to the same location, with an appropriate ship, can easily take over an hour and that is just to get started. Then you get to sit in SC for a while, hope nobody disconnects or you have to return (for physical MC), hope nobody dies and is send 100LY to some random prison without ship, after which you can sit in SC again in a taxi to go to a shipyard where you can wait for your real ship to come so you can sit in SC again to go to where you friends might be.

$10 says none of the designers invite their friends to this torture because they dont think its fun either.

What stood out most to me, was none of the business matters. but the little tech bit that had David so excited for a while there: I do not have JWE2, so I don't know how well it works in practice, but the physics-reactive animation system he mentioned for the dinosaurs, sounds like something I'd definitely want to see adapted to Odyssey characters -- maybe it could make people move a little less "wooden-ly", and stop their pathfinding's swivelling them around in 45 degree steps, as they round a corner... :p

Although this was the financial report, which one would expect to include everything; If one were to contrive only taking away warm and fuzzy feelings from it, I guess one could wonder how much of ED matters during the period it covers would sort under anything other than amortisations in any case, and note that they had apparently already been discussed in a previous meeting, as well as buy the claim that apparently FDev likes to look at its products long-term, as a rule (even though they seem no less keen on throwing out sequels that look like they might as well have been minor DLC:s)....

I guess it is also confirmed that the formula 1 management title will be an annual exploitathon, like other sports titles... :7

Much like the OP, I do feel that ED could be infinitely more: "respectful of the player's time", but everyone will have their own take...

Problem is.
ED is not on any Charts anymore.
Up to this Day I try finding out even a small hint that Frontier is Funding or at least willing to Fund any Further Development of Elite Dangerous.
And I cant come up with anything.
The last time any Funding for Elite Dangerous can be Found is quite a bit before Frontier even came out with the News that Space Legs will become a thing. Long before it was Announced as Odyssey. (This is normal by the way. Odyssey was clearly in the Works already way before it was Announced. As the Development for such stuff takes pretty long)

After that. I cant find anything that would even Indicate that Elite Dangerous received any further Funding for Development.

Instead what we do find. Is that the Delay between any actions or News on ED being published is getting longer.
Which would hint that Staff is actually removed from the ED Team and distributed to other Projects.
Efforts on Advertisement, Community Management and Information sharing have also been reduced Dramatically which would indicate that Frontier does not consider it worth the Workhours and Money it would take.

And before someone comes up with this. No this is not due to Focusing Efforts on Fixing Odyssey.
Not only is there a Staff Limitation on how many People are Effective to Work on something.
But the whole Staff that does not even have the Skills to do Bugfixing and Programming cant really be used for this.
Which means them being absent cant be related to this.

It's Teams. :p And it's essentially a shareholders report, nothing particularly enlightening in it (and no secrets imparted).
