Newcomer / Intro (3rd day playing) Did I get a bargain?

My 3rd day of playing Elite, Was wondering if I got a bargain or did I waste my credits? It looked handy for those acquire item missions on dark sides of planets.

Made the money from the ground war zones, each attempt was netting me around 6 - 8 million in reward so I know I can make the money back quickly. I suspect 10 million or so is nothing in the grand scale of things.

I learned not to depend on night vision for looting settlement.

However this is a great find! Slap on a backpack and you have a good suit for settlements on the dark side of the planet

Yes, the engineer for night vision is one of the hardest to unlock so that mod is very hard to get on a suit normally and it's useful on the maverick for being stealthy at night. The only thing better to buy would be a maverick with backpack capacity and/or quiet steps.

Thanks for the replies, I was a little unsure as to me was a lot of credits, but I earned them quick. Those Ground combat missions pay very well if you win.

Now to save more and find a good Biology suit hopefully.

The ground CZ are the one of the best paying things in the game. Just be aware that the suit you found ^^^^ is one of the most wanted ones, and finding an Artemis as good will take some (more) luck :)

There is a thread where people share finds : https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-great-pre-upgraded-gear-sharing-is-caring-thread.576352/ - you can post nice finds you don't want in there if you want - or race people to the new stuff.
Thank you . I saw that post about gear, this is the first item I found that was better than Rank 1, so luck was with me today.

Great find. If there is one suit I want NV on its the Mav.

Thank you, I was hoping it was a worthwhile buy. I am an older fellow and my eye's are not the best so thought the NV would be good wether it was a good or bad buy just for those dark side of the planet missions (I seem to get that side of the planet often).

You ever noticed how despite only 50% of the planet being dark at any point in time, 90% of missions are on the dark side of planets?

It's great for orienting yourself in dark sites (if you take missions to restore power to settlements), knowing where the power building is comes in very handy :) Also very useful for spotting NPCs in that time when the sun is down but they haven't switched on their torches yet.

Indeed, at first I grisled about it cause of my eye sight. Though it became a new challege to overcome and even better now with the new Maverick Suit. Problem is now I am slightly(overly) enjoying the ground based combat missions. I find them quite entertaining being dropped in from a ship right into the thick of it. Always will be a big kid at heart.

My wife just rolls her eye's and goes back to her art work, she isnt a gamer.

As you have been told Night Vision is a great and hard to find mod for a Maverick suit, the prices are as I recall fairly standard at each grade with G3 being the most expensive at what you paid.
All the on foot gear is pricey compared to ships and modules.

Nice find.
Now keep an eye for one that has Quieter Foot Steps, for those missions where a stealthy approach is desirable

Three days?!

I've been in game for five years and still don't have that. Nice snag!

Once again, congratulations on finding that Maverick suit. If you want to try exo biology with an Artemis suit, don't worry about engineering it or finding one pre-engineered. Part of the fun of exo biology is seeing the plants, so you choose to land on the light side of planets. I've just been to the farthest edge of the galaxy you can get to and back doing some exo biology scans on the way with a stock Artemis suit. You don't need more, but the ability to run longer, faster or use the jet pack to get higher and a bit more battery life would be nice to haves. Night vision or stealth not really useful on the Artemis suit.
