Be glad ED isn't an arcade-game dressed up as a flight-combat sim, with historical FMs to screw up. Compared to the melt-down that just destroyed BoS ED is having a party. :D

IMHO FD knows what they are doing.

A hearty pat on the back for you sir! Chin up old bean, I'm sure everything will be ok. Just take some of the negative posts with a pinch of salt, then hold your head up high and say, "I will keep the faith!", or something similar.

Works for me ... mostly! ;):D

Nothing really for the devs to say, is there?

They're working hard on releasing the preview Gamma on 22nd, and then the 1.0 on the 16th December.

Lots of pieces need to fall into place before then, but they must feel capable or they wouldn't have announced the date.

In the meantime, the devs work. Not post on forums. Or even bother reading them if I were them.

People who don't like a particular game usually would never go to its forum and write their impression on it. They just toss it to garbage and move on. The enormous amount of anger and passion on this forum proves that players really care whether they admit it or not. Most of the negativity is related to not meeting the player's personal expectations to what the game shapes to be. Some wanted it to be the space version of Minecraft or Space Engineers or even Space Skyrim. When they realized that the game is getting to be more combat focused they bashed ED with righteous vengeance.

Yep, ignore the doombringers populating the forum now. They're only doing it because the FD team are so hard at work that they don't have time to quash any of it with a well-placed screenshot or message. It's almost a parable for religion in it's own way :rolleyes:

If they're aware of it, I doubt they are surprised. They've been around long enough not to worry too much about the febrile atmosphere in a place like this this close to launch.

For every negative, whining, depressing thread I bet there is a ton of superconductors traded by someone enjoying the game more than posting on a forum.
Spend you life- and playtime however YOU want. Don't let yourself be pulled down by someone who can't.

Indeed. Its an internet gaming forum, and like any game that becomes successful it will have negativity because people don't tend to post when they are having a fun time in game. :) I strongly suspect we are going to be getting a nice surprise on the 22nd.

Also, I wouldn't worry about the tone of the forum. It's just what happens when things get close to release and people get anxious.

I've always been excited about the speed of which patches / bug squashing has occurred; and if that means that our only real interaction with the Devs is on Friday in the news letter I'd rather have that then dev posts here that could be misquoted etc.

Reasons to be hopeful? Well, I only saw a little of the recent Twitch TV event but it seemed that Ed and Adam were playing in Open Play, if the appearance of the odd random commander is anything to go by. I spotted the odd texture glitch on the planet but none of the lag/stutter we see in our build.

So if our problems are down to the much maligned net code in our build then this is encouraging.

If they are stutter free because they are playing on some multi Xeon quad-SLI behemoth..... not so good ��

Personally I don't care about the negativity on the forums (altho some posters are more hilariously miss-informed and make for an entertaining read) I'm too busy playing and enjoying ED to be depressed ;)
