If you do need to be able to log in to Horizons in the process you wouldn't need a high end machine to do it especially if you didn't run anything beyond the main menu so any borrowed PC or maybe one in an internet cafe (assuming they still exist) should work. Load all the files onto stick or external drive then add them to your good machine when you get it.

I've started over on PC quite some time ago and have sunk 2000 hours into the game so far. My console account has roughly 3500 hours so I was very hesitant to delete all that progress. However, with the fact that wealth as well as customizations may be merged with my PC account, I only have one question:
Will access to the Cobra Mk IV be transferable as well? Having purchased cosmetics for it on XBox, it would be a shame for those to just vanish into virtual thin air. I know it's not exactly a good ship, but I have the itch to collect and fly each and every ship for a designated purpose.
As far as it is evident, the only mentioned method of owning the Cobra Mk IV on PC without having purchased Horizons in the window of time that provided access to it, is copying a console account that already owns the ship. I have no intention of returning to that save as I've already amassed much more progress on PC, so I would prefer to just transfer all assets and cosmetics to that save. Access to the Mk IV would be icing on the cake for me.

Something to note for those of you thinking of just transferring your cosmetics to your PC account. There are a few cosmetics that do not transfer over.
Trophy dash decorations did not transfer over for me, this could have been because my pilot was deleted so the trophies did not exist any more so this I'm not 100% sure on.
Azure paint jobs, the Azure paint job that we're given for buying Horizons before it became included in the base game. This paint jobs were not included in the transfer. I'm a bit gutted because I absolutely loved them but they do not include them in the cosmetics transfer.

Delete the Cmdr save on pc, and then transfer console account to this pc account. You will have your Xbox Cmdr on your edo account, with cosmetics from both.
It's not a merge it's a new account, you either clear your PC cmdrs save and have it overwritten with your Consol cmdrs data or you take the free horizons offer.
I dont believe they are communicating it will be done in September. I’m reading the opportunity to sign up/request this will occur in September. Likely will take some time to work the many requests
for 10 euro per month you can play an elite pc account using geforce now in browser on a console (at least on XB) but at 1080p
You can get any random laptop (it should have an modern i5 at least) and use an hdmi cable to output to a 4k tv and use a 20 euro per month Geforce now subscription to run Elite in 1440p
A such laptop can be had for like 600-700 euros or so - older laptops/computers are also useable.
Edit: even if you dont have a computer, a migration will not hurt your console account and you can have it for the next year

You can try it for yourself, they offer free accounts, sure limited to 1h sessions. 1080p resolution and sometimes with a rather long waiting queue, but you can at least test it

I'm sorry, I may not have been clear in my post. There is the additional option to delete the console account and transfer the value of the assets to the PC. While this has been an option for a long time, I do not recall the option for the cosmetics to transfer over being available in the past. What I meant by "merge" was primarily wealth and, most importantly, cosmetics.
Edit: in hindsight, I suppose "transfer" is a better term. However, I have several Cobra Mk IV paints on console, Midnight Black included, and it would be a shame to lose access to those. I'm 100% set on transferring asset and cosmetics, so the Cobra IV deal was the only real clarification I was looking for.

You'd need to contact support for that - and they may make this transfer available to you right now (not in September) but it may mean that your Console account will get deleted
So open a support ticket and ask them, nothing to lose
As someone who has been stuck in the "console situation hell" since last year, this is extremely happy news for me. This is the final game to transition to PC for me.
My only request now is, is there a way for Frontier to initiate a truly controller-only scheme as I've never found a setup that emulates exactly the (Xbox) controller setup. Unless anyone can point me to a list?

Look on Amazon for a generic PlayStation controller for 16.99$ that emulates xbox. It might sound confusing but I actually play with the controller religiously. If I can send you a Direct link to it I will try.
