Suziesky's Animal Wishlist

Primates:
This is my top group of missing animals. It's a little weird how few there are, but I think these would make a major dent in representing them.

New World (South America):

  • Tamarins (Golden Lion, Cotton-Top, Emperor): They are small but cute and colorful. This trio might be like the old world lemurs.
1654807428700.png

  • Squirrel Monkey: common in zoos, related to capuchin
  • Geoffrey's Spider Monkey
  • Howler Monkey: good vocalizations, unique appearance
  • Bald Ukari: unique appearance
1654807594157.png

  • If there are extra slots, maybe a marmoset, another spider monkey, or a different capuchin?
Old World (Asia):
  • Red Shanked Douc: Unpopular, but very pretty, endangered, has a history in captivity, but they are trying to reduce trade right now
  • Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey
  • Gray Langur
  • Rhesus Macaque: Generic, brown, Asian monkey. I would accept other, similar substitutions.
1654807865187.png

  • Gibbons: The siamangs look great, and I'm grateful for them. They could reuse the rig for the Lar gibbon and possibly another gibbon.
  • Tarsiers: They might be too small, but they are interesting
Old World (Africa): We probably don't need all of them, but a few would be great.
  • Mantled Guereza Colobus Monkey: requested
  • Roloway Monkey: someone was asking for it
  • Tana River Mangabey: I don't think anyone was asking, but it seemed pretty, and it's endangered
  • Coquerel's Sifaka: requested
  • Diana Monkey: requested
  • De Brazza's Monkey: requested
  • Aye-aye: requested
1654980269943.png

Old World (resembling baboons): at least 2 would be nice, even though these creep me out
  • Olive Baboon
  • Hamadryas Baboon
  • Gelada
  • Lion Tailed Macaque

Non-aviary birds:
This category is a little tricky for me. The absence of birds is almost as obvious as that of monkeys, but how many go here depends on several factors. If aviaries are added, I don't think as many need to be here. Anatidae is a large group with many fantastic options should the developers decide to go down that route. If not, I'm not sure many birds need to be added. There are a few they could add with limited, low flight that may not need an aviary and would be somewhat easier. That said, here is a general, but by no means comprehensive, list.

Diving Birds:

  • Rockhopper Penguin
  • Little Blue Penguin
  • Atlantic Puffin
1654979232857.png

Cranes and Similar Wading or Long-Legged Birds:

  • Grey Crowned Crane
  • Secretary Bird: If it's down to this or the above, I hope they either match zoo tycoon 2's energy or stick with something different
  • Scarlet Ibis
  • Shoebill
  • Roseate Spoonbill
  • Great Blue Heron
  • Sacred Ibis
1654979255460.png

Ratites:
  • Emu
  • Greater Rhea
  • North Island Brown Kiwi
1654979275072.png

Pheasants and Similar:
  • Golden Pheasant
  • Oscillated Turkey
  • Wild Turkey
  • Green Peafowl
  • Victorian Crowned Pigeon
  • Lady Amherst's Pheasant
1654979124788.png

Limited Flight:
  • Burrowing Owl: I could see this starring in a desert pack, but it's not essential
  • Pelican: I would take any The idea of pelicans walking long distances seems a bit depressing, but it would be a good addition
  • Blue Footed Booby
1654979070147.png

Anatidae: I'm sure there are plenty more, but here are a few requested ones
  • Mute Swan
  • Black Swan
  • Orinoco Goose
  • Bar-Headed Goose
  • Wood Duck
  • Mandarin Duck

Small Cats:
I feel like the developers could add 4-7 small cats. Which ones depends on how many they want to add. Sulky small cats that don't want to come out of their dens are a part of zoo trips for me. I notice their absence.

Mid-Sized Small Cats:

  • Caracal: desert
  • Serval: grassland
  • Fishing Cat: forest
  • Ocelot: Only if they aren't adding smaller varieties, no picture
  • Asian Golden Cat: jungle, a little on the small side
  • Canadian Lynx or Bobcat
1654820479941.png

Small-Sized Small Cats:
  • Pallas's Cat: tundra, taiga
  • Margay: Smaller ocelot with big eyes that is more distinctive next to the serval and jaguar
  • Arabian Sand Cat: desert

Misc. Small Mammals
They've added some great members to this category; however, most people seem to think there is much more to add here. A lot of these species would require new rigs and animations. I think 7-12 additions could improve the game. I have a few favorites, but as long as there is a good mix, I don't care too much which ones are added. I would suggest a few more from South America to even the numbers a bit.

Mustelids:
  • Wolverine
  • Sea Otter
  • Honey Badger
  • Black-Footed Ferret
  • Pine Martin
1654826907168.png

Rodents (not porcupines):
  • Marmot
  • Cape hare/Snowshoe Hare/Jackrabbit: I'm fine either way if they choose to add rabbits
  • Patagonian Mara
  • Agouti
  • Springhare
1654826870680.png

Sloths: If they go through the trouble of making one, they might as well add both
  • Hoffmans's Two-Toed Sloth
  • Brown Throated Three-Toed Sloth
1654826858441.png

Porcupines:
  • Crested: African or Indian
  • Prehensile-Tailed: South America
  • North American
1654826945515.png

Other:
  • Coati: no opinion on which
  • Civet: no opinion on which
  • Striped Skunk
  • Lesser Anteater (aka Northern Tamandua)
  • Fossa
  • Kinkajou
  • Racoon
  • Aardwolf
  • Armadillo

Deer:
I feel like there are usually more varieties of deer when I visit zoos. I don't think this category needs much, but there is something missing. Maybe 4 would cut it?
  • Indian Muntjac or Reeve's Muntjac: these little vampire deer are adorable
  • Red Deer
  • Elk
  • White Tailed
  • Marsh Deer
  • Sika Deer
  • Pere David's Deer

Canids:
I know a lot of people just want the maned wolf, but I think there are some other great options. I think they could add most of these if some of the other categories are a bit more filled out.

Larger Canines:

  • Maned Wolf: very popular
  • Black-Backed Jackal: visually distinct
  • Coyote: versatile, but a bit too like the Timber wolf for me to pick it over the others
  • Tanuki
1654828574952.png

Foxes:

  • Red Fox
  • Grey Fox or Island Fox
  • Bat Eared Fox
1654828568581.png

Marsupials:
I don't notice the absence of these as much as the other categories, but I think the community would place them higher. They need at least 4. More could be added if the other categories are filled out.
  • Tasmanian Devil: I'm trying really hard to like them because the community wants them and we're likely to get them, but they scare me.
  • Echidna
  • Bennet's Wallaby
  • Common Wombat
  • Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
  • Quokka
1654864148245.png

Alternates:
  • Yellow-Footed Rock Wallaby
  • Hairy-Nosed Wombat
  • Matschie's Tree Kangaroo

Hi, im the roloway monkey guy, thank you for my roloway monkey :)

Sheep/Goats:
This is another hoofed-animal category with some missing community favorites. There are several welcome choices, but some of the other categories are in dire need of variety before we go overboard.

Eurasia:

  • Musk Ox: also in NA
  • Markhor
  • Takin
  • Mouflon
  • Tahr
  • Tibetan Antelope: I know, but it is a goat
  • Chamois
1654866940254.png

North America:
  • Bighorn Sheep
  • Rocky Mountain Goat

Reptiles:
This is a little lower priority for me, but the aquatic turtles would make really interesting additions. I just don't know if the devs want to make them. Anyways...

Turtles/Tortoises:

  • African Spurred Tortoise or another large tortoise with a distinctive shell
  • Burmese Star Tortoise: might be too small
  • Green Sea Turtle
  • Alligator Snapping Turtle
  • Softshell Turtle
1654868128830.png

Monitors: They kind of look the same to me. I hope they pick one that best suits their pack design.

  • Perentie
  • Asian Water Monitor
  • Argentine Tegu
1654980824106.png

Crocodilians: These always look good even though we have a lot of them.
  • West African Slender-Snouted Crocodile: different African crocodile
  • Chinese Alligator: Like American, but smaller with a cute, stubby snout
  • Nile Crocodile: would use this and False Gharial instead of WASSC if we got 3
  • False Gharial

Antelope and Cows:
I actually like antelope, but I just think they have a disproportionately strong presence right now. Some of my favorites are left out, too. Similar to the goats, I just want to see more variety among other groups before they add too much from here.

Cows
  • Forest Buffalo
  • Yak
  • Nilgai
  • Saola
  • Giant Eland
  • Greater Kudu
1654871941167.png

Antelope
  • Addax
  • Kirk's Dik-Dik or Klipspringer or other small antelope
  • Hartebeest
  • Saiga
  • Gerenuk
  • Blackbuck
  • Mongolian Gazelle
  • Arabian Oryx

Pigs:
I don't really like pigs, but there are enough good candidates that I thought they could have their own category.

  • Red River Hog: the only adult pig I've ever seen that was cute to me
  • Collared Peccary: not like other pigs (taxonomically)
  • Wild Boar: good for Europe
  • Visayan Warty Pig: different and endangered
1654872497683.png

Summary:

Priority of groups
  1. More Monkeys
  2. More Ground Birds: not as important if they don't add waterfowl. I want more non-aviary birds, but too many would get boring. 20 ground birds wouldn't replace aviaries
  3. Small Cats
  4. Misc. Small Mammals
  5. Deer
  6. Dogs
  7. Marsupials
  8. Goats/Sheep
  9. Reptiles
  10. Antelope/Cows
  11. Pigs
Others that didn't fit:
  • Dromedary Camel
  • Manatee
  • A donkey (Somali Wild, maybe?)
  • A bear (or 2?)
    • American Black Bear: I love the color variations, would work as a "starter" bear, my pick
    • Spectacled Bear: good for South America
  • Pinnipeds: Pick 1-3
    • Ribbon Seal: found while looking for Harp
    • Harp Seal
    • Walrus
    • Others suggest elephant, fur, or leopard seal
  • Maybe an African Leopard or some other "re-skins" (Black Rhino, Masai Giraffe, etc.), not high priority
1654874970248.png

Stuff I Forgot:
  • Probably some birds
    • Himalayan Monal
    • Painted Stork
  • Probably some small mammals
    • Tibetan Sand Fox
    • Yellow Throated Martin (if they add ferrets)
    • Mongoose
  • Let me know what else:
Many of these are from the Meta-Wishlist, but a few are not as popular. I tried to include some variety. I tend to bold my favorites and underline really important members of a group. This list was written without aviaries, farm animals, aquariums, or exhibit species. I might add something for those later, but I think other people know more about them and have stronger preferences than I do.
I love chatting with people about animals. Is there something I left out? Would you shift the categories some other way? Let me know what you think:

Maybe an African Leopard
Personally, I think an Indian leopard would be nicer and bring another apex predator to India.

Others have suggested Persian leopard, which is perfect for representing the Middle East, which unfortunately is lacking in animals.
Actually, the striped hyena and the black-backed jackal would be nice to represent that area, as well

(Everytime I read "SuzieSky", I keep reading "Susie Q"😅)

About the leopard, I'm not surprised they went with one of the two more asked for species (the other being Africa) but as far as geographical representation, the Persian leopard would have made a lot of sense, and would not have surprised me either.

I like the idea of completing Africa's "Big 5". I like that it has a large range, hangs out in trees, and had a presence in many nature documentaries. I kind of stand by my leopard choice. However, adding another leopard is close to the bottom of a long list of priorities for what I would like added. I can see why people would like the other two, and I don't feel very strongly about which, if any, leopard. I'm sure they would all be great.
