Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Two years (!) ago, @LittleAnt estimated that CIG could:
...with 50 persons...achieve 25 stellar objects/month = 2.5 systems/month like Pyro = 30 systems/year.
In the intervening two years, CIG has added zero moons, zero planets and zero star systems. And no moons, planets or star systems are listed on their Release View roadmap.

During those two years CIG has extracted an additional $182 million from backers.

Backers are fine with this.

I emptied a trashcan of cups in orbit you hater. Hundreds of cups are now stellar objects. Forever. They load everytime into your memory when you get close. That's why you get the FPS you see, it's so you member me dearly.

Yet backers remain convinced Pyro is coming soon! Secret dev build! All just waiting on server mushing.

2053, Pyro is finally released.
A white haired LA : "See? Told ya, you haters!"
CIG: "Notice : we had to remove Stanton, because 'it doesn't meet our missed Lord Chris's standards anymore', so said his AI construct in charge of the Dream since 2039"

Some backers are fine with this...most of us aren't ;)

Exactly, you have almost understood. But the secret build is not exactly secret as you can track all Pyro's elements on the roadmap. And SM needed not a surprise too as even here everybody know Stanton can't handle more entities, so adding a new system without it is not possible.

You mean the same roadmap that also pointed to the latest SQ42 betas in 2020? There is in essence no difference between that and no information at all. It is actually worst as it not only does not inform, but it misinforms.

As always, no indication that approx 50% (or more now probably) are accounts that signed up for free fly and never actually gave CIG money. They have not "Joined the Universe"

Also, how many of those accounts belong to people who are now dead or no longer interested in the game? Or alt accounts or dummy accounts created to boost stats?

Still, i can't blame marketing too much, they have a job to do, and that is to make it appear as popular as possible.

This is a strange hill to patronise from...

SQ42 beta end of 2021. ❌
Vulkan late this year. ❌
Second system late 2021, early 2022. ❌
iCache a huge mess at start, good tech at the end of 2021. ❌

I switched on twitch and see Boredgamer is answering questions. He doesn't have the answers of course, but he gives answers nevertheless. Oooh, gen12 renderer will fix this problem, they are working on X and it will sort Y problem, ship this ship that etc.

And I realise - I don't understand why anybody would believe CIG, Boredgamer or his viewers. How can people believe something when everything in the project so far says it will never happen?

Just a wee random thought. Must be the heat.
