Newcomer / Intro Destroyed At Deciat

Thank you Robert, blocking here i come. Out-of interest can a ganker see that he has been blocked ?

I spose we should be nice to gankers; they must have suffered a severe previous trauma. And remember that a gangker is not just for xmas

No.

Although blocking can have side effects - it basically tells the instancing server very strongly that you don't want to be instanced with this other player. Depending on who is queud up for an instance in which order, this will affect your and the blocked player's instancing with other players, one way or another. Which is why gankers (and other PvP oriented players), to a greater or lesser extent, don't like this feature. But you do you - or, like FD expresses it, "blaze your own trail".

Is this coming from the guy/girl who dumps biowaste at people before getting blown up? Or just blows themselves up first? I wouldn't have chosen that phrase if that's all I could boast about xD
Yes, that would be me...is there a problem with my play style? ;)

On a related note, I've never been clear on what causes a player to show up as a hollow triangle in supercruise. Is it the presence of an FSD interdictor, or do they have to have it in their current fire group, maybe in combat mode? And can any other modules cause it?

Much easier to tell if one has been blocked (friend request that automatically fails) than tell if someone is a 'he' or a 'ganker'.

An active interdictor can, but I also think wake scanners and even the DSS, can as well. Been a while since I checked.

I see. Well, like I said I'm too green to know how to be mad. I still haven't fired any weapons except to harvest a meta alloy.

Strange how civilization is showing a tendency to protect criminals these days. :)

If I switch to solo for a session to engineer does my wealth, ships, inventory stay the same going in and coming out?
Deciat didn't used to be that bad. The thing is, there's always one place in these kind of open-world games that people are going to club seals.

Back when the game launched, it was Eravate as that was the first system you got sent to after leaving the starter dock (ie. the very first system a new player would become visible in open)

Then the devs added the PF locked district, so the gankers couldn't camp there as they couldn't get in - and players leaving the newbie zone have a dozen or more different systems they could go to.

So they all went to the next best thing - Felicity Farseer is one of the first engineers that most players get invited to, if not the first, so that's the first specific system that new players are directed towards that they can access. Farseer has some other advantages too for a ganker - the longish cruise from the star to the engineer base gives them plenty of time to catch and interdict people compared to, say, The Dweller.

Really, what Deciat needs in order to become less of a noob-trap in open is just for the hyperjump warning screen to tell you if someone's committed any crimes against other players in the last 24 hours in the system you're jumping into. That way they'd get a heads up that "hey, this is a place where crimes happen, are you sure you want to go here in open?"

My CMDR dates from the Gamma where they had a selection of random starter systems to spread CMDRs out.

Strange that they changed that...added some flavor and variety to have a home town that wasn't the same as everyone else's.
I started in Asellus Primus as I joined after Horizons, so I was confused when people were talking about the "handcrafted tutorial missions" as I thought I'd missed them - until I finally found myself in Eravate one day and saw the mission to source two tons of fish.

Crazy idea, just put in a working C+P system. 🤷‍♂️

I liked that too.

The OB Commanders o7 (Original Bubble :D )

Suppose hypothetically, I posted a list of commanders on an external linked file. Would this be against for the forum EULA since the list did not exist on the forum proper?

Considering what happened to a certain boy wizard for creating a scoreboard website that people would be submitting info to voluntarily, I wouldn't recommend it.

While FDev cannot control what is published on other sites, if they can match the publisher to a certain account, they can ban that account for breaching the EULA

Thanks for the tip. I was thinking that an instant Open PVE mode could be created this way for all players seeking this experience.
