What.
To gain access to H 4.0 via 3rd party launchers or fiddling around with additional launching parameters.
It's more about starting H 4.0 from FD's launcher as convenient as the other parts of the game.

Probably not as Frontier themselves use that parameter for the official launcher.
I was just half-kidding but in any case, feature overhaul, though great (?), will probably introduce new bugs, not necessary address the existing ones.

It wouldn't be too complicated to update the official launcher to add a single use key provided by the login server that could be passed to the elitedangerous64 executable to send back to the servers (to make sure that the executable has been start by the official launcher).
