Lets take the positives and remember our glass is much more than half full

Went out to a Bonfire, great fireworks and even an ED discussion and came back to find forum melt down.

A line's been drawn in the sand, I can understand why some are sad, depressed, suicidal or otherwise negative, because its not going to be exactly what some people have envisaged or presumed at release. FD have made some hard decisions in order to bring out the core of the game.

The way I look at it, 2 years ago there was no Elite, in fact there were times in the KS where it didn't look like getting funded. In a month a new version of Elite will be released. Even if Release is 3.05 with no changes we have come a long way. FD have built a stunning galaxy that they now need to populate.

FD need our support now and all this negativity is actually fueling the very thing that people fear - bad reviews. We are two years on a journey and that journey will be longer and richer the more supportive and positive we are.

I have my my glass here and it's much more than half full. How many of you will join me in raising a more than half full glass to all at FD for what they have done and looking forward to what they with our support will do as our journey together enters its third year.

Yeah, I'm still excited. The game look to be better than Privateer which was all I really wanted in the first place :)

Very well said! I am fed up of all the whining and disrespect going on. I backed Elite and I got Elite.

Cheers!

To the Optimist the glass is half full.
To the Pessimist the glass is half empty
To the Engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

+1 for a positive post. We have an Elite game running on modern hardware, with an expanding scope ahead of us. We are lucky gamers above all else.

Well, this is it, we've flown several LS and we all 've been part of this amazing (historical) development, I'm very happy with the results, and all the upcoming features will let me evolve within this game.

Long Life to FD

Do you understand that some people who have paid for the game in good faith, will NOT be able to play the game now?

It doesn't matter whether your glass is half empty, half full or even "much more than half full"; if you're stranded in a desert and FD have buried the glass 50 meters under the sand in a random location, dying of thirst is the only outcome.

I just cannot make myself enjoy this game. I dislike to much about it.. From the maneuvering and ship sounds, to supercruise and the overly complex gameplay.

It's just not fun (for me). I enjoy X Rebirth a helluva lot more..

Yay for you!

I feel sorry for the (likely) small number of edge cases whom do not have a persistent internet connection. You're missing out on a fantastic game. Hopefully one day you can get decent internet.

For myself, I love this game :D

I cant even imagine life without a persistent internet connection, the fact that some people don't have any internet options at all baffles me and I'm not even from a 1'st world country.

Why would you even buy the beta / game before release anyways if you cant play it ?

Because they stated that the game would have offline/ no-drm mode

I agree with you, unfortunately, there are alot that don't.

I've also seen many game releases over the last 15 or so years, and from what I've seen, every single one of them has had naysayers on their forums, and it did get worse towards release. After release, the naysayers quieted down a bit, they didn't go away, and they kept on finding things to complain about. Those games were successful, and I believe ED will be successful too.

All that said, I would love to see some more positive thoughts as well, I don't want people to put on rose colored glasses, but yes, a little positive to counter the negative would be nice.

Cheers! I love the game and i wish i had the balls to be among the earliest of kick-starters. I am sorry for those who wanted the offline/single player game though.

All the nonsense aside, the one thing that still strikes me is the little thruster movements you can see on each craft. awesome, looking forward to release.

I agree, it will be a great game for sure. We just cannot please everyone all the time, that's how the cookie crumbles.

All in all the guys are doing a marvellous job and I salute them for all the hard work they put in.

Agree with OP - so much good has come out of this process and people seem to be blinded to that over one feature that was part of the original design but had to be cut.

I appreciate and understand their frustration. If people want refunds, that is their choice.
