1.05 performance.

Hi

in the patch notes I saw performance increases.

are you guys seeing anything in VR? (stuck at work so please throw me a bone to pass the time :) )

thanks

edit.. performance improvements are server side so whether that would improve game performance?...... Not sure, but I am still semi convinced much of the stutter is network related as it seems worse when my internet does not have full bandwidth

I also agree much of the stutter is network related or to do with loading in assets

I feel 1.05 is faster for me even a little but im still getting stutter at a lot of the places before, in supercruise and the bigger stations etc

UPDATE..after playing a while its definitely faster and the galaxy map is smoother for me also :)

Weird, I'm seeing the opposite! My framerate has gone down in stations (60-70) while my GTX980 is only running at 55%. In 1.04 I didn't see the frame rate drop (apart from usual stutter) below 75 until the GPU was maxed out.

For me things become quite a bit better, less judder.

However since 1.05 I experience the position camera bug MUCH more often.
Every 1-2 minutes my head jumps to a wrong position and requires reset.

They should just limit the area where the head can be if they can't find the bug.

Thought to add some differences as well. It seems the sound is a little louder as I always have my volume at an exact digital setting for ED. My normal digital 18 then sounded like a digital 28 with the 1.05 update. Also It seems Interdictions are a slightly more aggressive.

By aggressive do you mean they have increased the rate again? Or the interdictions are harder? Am way to hungover to use the rift today, no ED for me :/

1.05 got me back to the FPS I had in 1.03, around 75fps in most places. Runs great now. I do notice that if I turn Vsync off I can get up to 80FPS, but i see tearing/judder and runs the experience

More on this. For some reason my monitor IDs had flipped - OR had become 1 and the monitor had become 2. The monitor was still set as primary. Now I know this shouldn't affect things, logically, but I did some messing (seriously, there seems no easy way to switch these numbers around!) and eventually got it so that the identities were the right way round and the framerates were back to normal.

I say I got the numbers back the right way round but they still show incorrectly in Control Panel (monitor as 2, OR as 1), although pressing "Identify" they're the right way (monitor as 1, OR as 2).

Weird.

Galaxy map lags as hell.

to be more precise... i can´t even enter a planets name in the search field. it opens and instantly closes the search field. Also button 4 to select a planet doesn´t work.
Anybody else with this issue?

I moved the game to my RAID 0 SSD volume to speed up loading assets. Definitely helps in SC. I haven't really noticed any performance change in 1.05 but mine was 75 FPS all the time anyway (except when loading textures in SC). :)

I am experiencing some of the worst performance since Gamma 1.2 (or whatever it was called).
Before tonight I have crashed only once before, now I've got a 50% chance of crash on startup and then then another crash is waiting for me whilst transitioning from Hyper or Super somewhere along the way.
.
Also, I have lost between 5 and 10 fps everywhere... stations are now at 45-50 fps, whereas I used to get 55+ consistently.... Galaxy map is almost completely unusable for me right now.
I NEVER get motion sick.... tonight, I am feeling it.
.
I'm thinking its a server issue, because my video card isn't even working hard at all, rarely seeing 80%+ utilization despite the fps drop, and the CPU and Mem aren't being taxed either.
.
.
I'm sure they'll nail it down, but there's no playing for me like this.
Major disappointment. I got myself a nice cold 12 pack I'm gonna have to consume in War Thunder flying 1940's tech instead of 3300's tech.

Edit: I must have need having network issues last night cause I logged in two hours after and had normal performance.....

Everything is smooth as silk here. 4 core 3.6 intel, 16gb, 4gb GTX 760. All settings at max, but one thing, fps sits at 60 fps except when you jump to next system, drops to 58 and back to 60. Can't find anywhere I've limited anything. :)

If it's at 60 then it could be that your DK2 is running at 60Hz refresh rate due to having a 60Hz primary monitor. Windows won't let a secondary monitor have a higher refresh rate than the primary AFAIK.

In that case you'll need to set the DK2 to be your primary display before launching the game. Or try direct mode which doesn't have this limitation.

Some monitors will do 75Hz at a lower resolution than 'native'. That would be an easier option than setting the dk2 as primary.

You could also try vr game manager which will take care of switching monitors for you.
