1.2 as experienced by an expert. Me.

Good news everyone. Trading is still completely risk free. It's impossible not to always make over a million an hour in a T7 24/7 with absolutely no risk on the exact same trade route. Thanks FD.

Ambient heat seems much lower, yielding much much lower fsd heat production (30% less heat level than pre-1.2).

Shield booster's are stupid. That being said, i threw like 4 of them on my T7 because i had tons of power left over and why not. I dont need weapons.

External camera is ....an external camera ....however the initial starting distance needs to be increased, and the prompt telling me what it is can go away after the first time. I dont suffer from amnesia.

It looks like all the ram hacks are still intact and functional, so good news there for you hackers out there getting inf shields and ammo and your credit hacks etc. It's kind of depressing when you get a response that fd knows about particular hacks and nothing is done about it.

Good news to intermediate traders (those who aren't rocking T9's or anacondas)... the trading profit hit may hit quicker (200 tons) but it returns to base level much quicker. This means overall, I make more money over long term trading than I did prior to 1.2 while simultaneously punishing the top tier traders. I'm all for this, at least it's _something_ to limit trading at the top end.

Using the external camera in Super cruise lets you see your ship's model ...which was surprising. This must be why you get intermittent pauses as new ships show up on radar as textures may need to be loaded. I'd think FD would load these textures during the pause of dropping out of SC ... kind of confusing why they load the models during SC and cause this noticeable framerate hit.

The flipping around of the colors in galaxy map is utterly ridiculous. It's not hard to pick a color and stick to it. But if you're going to change colors of something, it makes no sense to switch them with colors in use already.

The price of the new ships dont bother me. FD wants ships to be targets for the long play. Games like this can exist for 10 years. Content has to last and not be accessible within the first 100 hours of playing like most other games. Of course this idea falls completely apart when you look at trading.

Overall, the update is nice, i can continue to reap massive profits with no effort and I plan to continue to do so or until I reach around 100mil credits. Unfortunately the persistence of cheaters leaves little desire to hook up with other players for wings so that aspect of the patch means nothing to me. Perhaps after i reach my goal of 100 mil credits and I switch to a combat python etc... being able to hit strong USS's will make wings matter. Until then, the non-response to rampant ram hacks annoys and saddens me since I trust no human players. This lack of action has made this game (since i started playing it) effectively single player even though I still play in open only.

I approve! +1 rep.

Game still plays like its an Early Access Beta game, and not a released game.

Major overhauls needed in nearly every aspect of the game.

Not sure if this is sarcasm or not.

Hey Darth, just wondering what you mean by them being stupid? I haven't had a chance to play the new update (other than in beta) yet so just wondering if you can clarify? Seemed like a cool idea, like the Hull ones.

Cheers!

they are stupid because they're in a similar vein to shield cell banks. if someone could somehow make stronger shields, they'd just make stronger shield cell generators. The idea that there could exist small addon devices that enhance them doesn't make a lot of sense. Why not just have a better variety of shield generators? In terms of gameplay strategy, it's stupid because you are nerfing the balance of pro and con with a given shield generator. Plus they're stackable.

So this thing magically boosts shields regardless of class a given percentage using the same fixed energy usage and takes up the same room. It's just stupid all around. Like Cell banks, it introduces an inconsistency and numerous logical doubts in the game unnecessarily.

FD would have been much better off introducing addons that actually add something to the game while still fitting in and not undermining the balance of their ships main addons. Like an addon for pulling dropped cargo to your cargo scoop vs running your ship over to the cargo. There are plenty of better addons that can be introduced that can fit in the game and have their own place without undermining current balance and looking like magic.

Boosters significantly reduce your shield regen rates. So they are more effective V bursty weapons like railguns, and good in short fights (say when fleeing as a trader) but reduce your effectiveness in drawn out battles. A nice tradeoff I would say.

fleeing barely requires shields, let alone additional tools to buff their initial shields. Unless the decision to run isn't immediate. So if that's the main purpose it's a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist for 99% of the playerbase.
