Hey, I don't know how many of you are in the same situation but I have some friends I regularly play with but that don't own the beta access, albeight I do. As the objective of a beta is to test specific features, wouldn't it be relevant for once to provide one to three invitation keys for the 1.2 Beta to Beta access owners in order for the to invite their friends with no access to beta. Otherwise, I'll have access to the beta sure, but I won't be able to test the features...

The only other alternative would be to make this beta accessible to everyone, but that's on a completely different level...

I hope I made myself clear.

There is nothing stopping you trying to contact/organise with other beta players to test and contribute to the beta.

This. Given it's in a separate environment just go out and have a blast with others and expand your Friend list, isn't that part of the attraction of playing with the Wings update especially ? FD make an exception once and it'll just open the door for more later on. So, sadly I don't agree with you OP.

While I don't agree with you fully OP - what I would hope to see is maybe instead of rushing out the release in 2 weeks is to instead do an initial release to beta players only. Then do a release candidate to all players, separate from their main game to get a wider range of information (connections, ISPs, machine configurations) to ensure that the final release is as sound as it can be.

This release relies a lot on their networking code being rock solid and even an RC a few days before a planned release might catch any game-breaking bugs.

Actually the lack of guarantee to meet someone is a valid concern. Unless 1.2 brings a group finding tool with it, like regular MMOs, how is one supposed to find other players except through luck?

Join one of the many groups here listed on the forum ? Or indeed start your own right here, today ?
Yep there's lots missing from a multiplayer perspective in Elite. This is Frontier's interpretation of what a MMO should be.
