1.2 New wear and tear costs

So i've just checked my repairs on conda... 98% ship integrity, repairs cost 100k+. Really? Is that a bug or intended design? I mean, it sucked when i had to pay 1 or 2 millions per elite conda assasination missions that pay 150k, but at least i could choose not to fight. With w&t, however, there is no options. So? Any words on this? I remember something in patchlog about making w&t costs "more reasonable", but i wonder what kind of reason is that.
 
I neglected paying my integrity costs after my last exploration trip because I heard repairs were going to be cheaper after 1.2.

I was going to be charged ~800K pre 1.2, logged in today to find this:

Apparently my bill has increased six-fold post 1.2; my insurance is only 7.35M so once I accumulate some more integrity costs I may as well just self-destruct.

Surely this isn't working as intended?
