1.3.04 - New RES and CZ Experiences Thread

Hi CMDRs,

let's post here our experiences in the new RES and CZ after 1.3.04 update changes, so we can see what has changed and what kinda istances we will encounter. Let's start!

RES checked: 1 (Carenar, Fed, High intensity)
Number of istances tryed: nearly 30
Ships and rank:
29 istances - little ships spawn only (from eagle to imperial courier), with ranks from expert to deadly
1 instance - big ship spawn only (ASP, Vulture, Clipper, Phyton, NO Condas), ranks from master to deadly (most deadly), big bounties (from 80k to 250k)
Note: no Elite wanted ships encountered by now

CZ: yet to test

I just had an hours play in 2 high intensity resource zones, first one didn't really pick up but I had some high ranked NPC's and reasonable bounties 12-44k. I jumped to the second one in the same ring of a large gas giant and this was more productive, Sidewinders, Cobras, Adders, Vipers and few Couriers all high ranked and put up a reasonable fight, highest single payout was around 70k. For just over an hours work I brought in over 900k + others system bounties I couldn't claim yet in the current system.

Tough going at times. You will need chaff, sinks, cells and the kitchen sink just to be sure...

Getting ganged up on constantly while im trying to work the (Deadly) Condas.

Its a proper challenge now.

EDIT : Just nailed my first Elite CZ Conda. That is one seriously tough old bus now - My wrist aches lol.

The high intensity sites are really fun now, but those dumb local security Anacondas still keep getting in the way of weapons fire, ho hum, another 10Mcr wasted...

Yeah - it's interesting when you have three deadly vipers on your tail and your ship won't go any faster :). I haven't seen a Conda since the 1.3 upgrade - doesn't matter what I do ….

High-intensity RES site, Youming system - just shy of 3m credits an hour fighting everything from Sidewinders to Pythons, mostly Master, Deadly and Dangerous. Vulture took a few hits and I nearly got my butt handed to me by a Python with beam turrets. Good money, bit of risk, back on track to earning my FdL.

Glorious :D

For the specifics:-

RES or CZ checked: Youming high-intensity RES
Number of istances tryed: 1
Ships and rank: Sidewinder to Python, Novice to Dangerous. Mostly upper end.
Notes (if needed): Local security ended up shooting each other instead of the hostiles. Great job there guys ~_~

You should notice the security level too.

High intens-RES in Tembala:
Number of instances: about 12
Security level: High
Planet: Pristine/Rocky
Ships and rank: only small from sidewinder to cobra and 2 pythons. Lots of police (including conda police). Most ships were around deady, no elite.

Tried some other systems, did not found a single big ship.... :/

Edit:
Finally found a high int res with small and bigger ships (vulture, clipper, phyton) and with all kinds of ranks (mostly about deadly). Guess what, my game crashed

CZ checked: 2, Tau Ceti (high and low intensity)
Number of instances: nearly 40 total
Ships and rank: I didn't find a lot of difference between high and low CZs. All mixed ships, ranks from expert to elite. Interesting combat, need lot of SCB and tactic when you have 3, 4 enemies firing at you in the same time.

Note: seems it's not possible, like before 1.3.04, to have an all elite spawn, both in RES and CZ...

looks like the RES is working again

RES checked: 1 (Faust 68, Imperial, High intensity)
Number of instances tried: once
Ships and rank:
small ships mostly, a few pythons, clippers, no anaconda, ranks from dangerous, master, no elite
Note: I made about 1.5 million in an hour

DEV's really need to explain, Security, Population, and their effect on AI spawns, cause this is getting confusing as.

If people can, post the security of the system as well.

2 RES instances checked, both had varied combat ranked small ships. I was impatient and wanted action, so I went to some combat zones. In an hour and a halfish, I went from 6% into Deadly, to 8% :D

from what my buddy discovered going to a dozen Res's yesterday. They still suck. Completely unviable as an income method to all but the newest of players.

This is due to a few things.

1. Volume of bad guys is low.
2. Volume of bad guys doesn't change as you kill them. There is no response from pirates like there is when you kill system cops.
3. Bad guys still generated in small ships mostly. This wouldn't be a problem if bad guys started coming in wings after you started killing some - but they dont.

It's a bore fest in res's if you're spending most of your time wandering around picking off an eagle here and there. And despite the rank being fixed, an eagle is still not worth much. So basically bounty hunting scaling is still broken.

CZ's i can't speak to. I imagine they are much harder now that everyone isn't mostly harmless and they tend to have better range of ships.

Also, it would be nice if FD didn't adhere to a seemingly strict stereotype of what ships are always wanted / always clean in res's. It is immersion breaking and tends to contribute to shooting before scanning.

Couple of tips for people struggling

Volume of enemies scales as far as I can tell, i started with very few but quickly ended up always having a target to shoot - I think the initial spawns are much slower

Big spawns are almost back to 1.0 levels, you need quite a few resets before you get large ships now it seems, I've not had to do the 2 hours it once took me to get anacondas, but its still taking longer than 1.2

Agree, but in my experience there's a moment in which the spawn simply stops...and you have to wait minutes until the new spawn start, so better to logout for a new instances (obviously not in the case of a big ships spawn)

About pilot rank grindind, RES are much more productive than before, but CZ are still the best IMHO. Focusing on Elite, Deadly and Dangerous ships I can gain 1% to Elite status in 30/40 minutes of play, killing from 30 to 50 ships. Rollback is that CZ are much harder, and you need to balance properly your killer instinct with defensive manouver, lot of SCB...and flee sometimes!
