1.3 not working with rift

Ok, so just today i have had an opportunity to hop into Elite. The 1.3 update and patch have finished installing and now i cant play anymore.
While the rift is in extended, my monitors flicker on and off. If i set the rift to direct, i can actually see the game... at first. After the intro screens i see a "preparing shaders" (which i'v never seen before, assumed it to be a new 1.3 thing) Then i stare into black, no menus, no sound of the cursor going over options. Just the black void of failure and the low hum of the intro music waiting for the almighty END TASK to cease its pitiful groaning...

any help would be appreciated! Thanks guys!

Just updated to the latest patch and seems to be working better than ever, it feels much smoother than the first 1.3

You haven't updated to runtime 0.6 at any point have you ? If so revert back to v5 if your on an nvidia card might be worth a driver update as a solution

There are a hundred things to try - check the troubleshooting section at the end of the OP in the compendium thread (see sig or this forum's sticky). I'm sure you'll figure it out
