1.3 Vulture vs FDL

Hello everyone. Seems Vulture got a huge boost in 1.3 and FDL got a bit of a nerf stick. Here are the base stats from shipyard (in game):

Vulture:
top speed 215 (old 210)
boost speed 348 (old 340)
Shield 293 (old 240!!!)
Hull 288 (old 160)

FDL:
top speed 265 (old 260)
boost speed 357 (old 350)
Shield 271(old 300)
Hull 405 (old 225) I dont care about this because everyone targets subsystems nowadays

The new Vulture seems a bit OP to me. It reminds me of pre nerf python. I may have to reconsider dropping my pvp FDL for a Vulture. It costs 7 times less, more maneuverable, and more powerfull shield now ?!? What happened to FDL being "luxury" bounty hunting ship ?
As a PVP-er I would take shield over hull anytime...

Hm, the changes at least aren't "Sledgehammer" type.

I do agree, though, that the FdL definitely didn't require any Shield nerf (?)
I was so unhappy with its limited Shield strength that I went Pulse/C4 Cannon just to fit more potent Boosters to afford some Station time under heavy fire.

After all - max. 4A Cell banks on the FdL doesn't do alot of good when the going gets tough.

Yep I am wondering about the future of FDL. I like 2 rails and it almost feels like I need a power management degree to run this thing. I never really loved my FDL like my Cobra and I was hoping for a Cobra boost to go back to it. But it seems we will all be flying Vultures soon. Traffic reports in CG systems already signify about 8 times as many Vultures than FDL and twice as many as Pythons which is the next in popularity.

I fly a vulture for combat that is good to know it got boosted in its specs and have a python for a multirole ship did that get a boosted as well which will be more important to have in power play to configure either for combat for expansion of your powers territory , mining, or transporting goods for your chosen faction power to expand their territory. I been watching twitch TV each having a different host which are each trying different things mining is quicker and picking up cargo and a I notice their is a progress bar in percentages of how you are to ranking up if you are currently ranked at the deadly combat rank and how far you have to go to get to the elite rank, also a progress bar for trade, and explorer rank and how you are progressing by what you do and no more guessing what it takes to rank up in the game.

I also posted this in beta forum and here are some of the replies i got:

The new stats are no different, they just take the mass and shield generator class into comparison and describe the ship itself, not the baseline ship always. If you buy a better shield, it will show a higher number in the shipyard for example. The shield values are still the same, it just shows a more correct number than before. I could be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure they just changed the way the shipyard stats work, not the actual ships. Sorry if this is false information though, just saying what seems most likely.

Yep, I think that might be it. The 'Lance comes with a 4E shield as stock, while the Vulture gets a 5E, and EDShipyard puts their actual MJ values pretty close to what's in the OP there.

This may explain things.

I wanted a FDL and it seems like that objective is pointless now. Apart from the Vulture there doesn't appear to be another ship with good combat capability and manoeuvrability.

In my opinion the FDL was a better attacker anyways, so I mean nerfing the shield capability, especially with those limited internal slots, It will probably allow the Python to stand out as a brawler more now.

Apparently the thread stats were wrong anyways, but I mean the two still have their seperate roles.

Eh, Python was always much better tanker because it can fit a lot of shield cells and easily run two or three at the same time and FDL can´t unless it sticks to very basic weapon loadouts or cuts component grades. Python does not need to stand out any more, it´s still the best medium pad trader and a great tanker with good dps on top of it. Only things it´s not really good at is exploration (it is doable in it of course) and catching people because it is not that fast.

Beta forums also had a buzz about fuel costs going up again (no access to it myself, can´t confirm). If that happens, FDL loses one of its class 4 slots to scoop and the ability to tank will be reduced even further. Python has so many slots that it won´t be as big of problem for it. End result is that FDL has locked down slots pretty much: You need class 5 shield, class 4 and class 2 cell banks (to be fired at same time), class 4 scoop and you have 1 free class 1 slot for "flexibility". :p

Well I mean, considering that they both use the same medium slots, just one doesn't have internals as the other, while the other is simply faster and more maneuverable with a bigger gun, thats why their different roles. Doesn't mean you can't compare the two ships. The FDL is good for certain things, and that's head on gun runs, where as the python can just sit 1000m away from a target with a stable all-thermal loadout and pepper a target with lasers while maintaining their shields, and just use positional thrusters to move around.

Thats what I meant. Their both cruisers anyways.

It's just more simple to say the FDL should be treated as a Space Lambo?

The FdL just has really good survivability because of its speed and toughness.

I owned 2 FdLs before i reset. A railboat and a beam sizzla (park both at warzone and dont have to go on outfitting missions). Its the boss pursuit combat ship.

However the Vulture is actually way more fun to fly and a proper brawler. Just pimped one with dual plassies and no cells on my new save and im having a blast playing roid peekaboo with condas

I think FD are purposely making more tricky to fit ships, where you have to choose carefully in one direction or another, but you can't just A-rate everything. feels a bit more like CCP's ships, fitting wise, just better, since its not based on artificial "trained" skills, that suddenly make your ship and your components better (and fit better)

As for the FDL, I think FD are watching out for the relative power compared to Conda and near-future ships in the pipeline.

Could you explain to me why you'd ever reset? If I had to restart from a Sidewinder, I'd ditch the game without a second thought.

I do have a friend who kept re-rolling the same class character from level 1, go up to 20 or 25 and then start over.. I'm still at a total loss at understanding what his point for this endless repetition was.

I guess this might be a fragment of a possible answer "no cells" on your new save...? what does that mean?
