1. Balance the economy
Sorry to say this, and I know it might be a big surprise, but trading is not fun. As a fast fix, not much to implement, I would decrease trade income to be equal to mining income. Add mission rewards until those reward the most, and will provide over all higher income. If the income will not be on the same level as the current trade income, decrease the high end ship/module prices.

For example, if you do trading mission you will earn more from that per hour, than just driving between 2 stations. Will make everyone to trade something else than just palladium, slaves etc. Will make people to ferry scrap if the client so wants to. Missions could be number 3 on this list, but I hope you will get the point from here -> Missions in general could be better for all professions.

Low end ship prices are too low. The bounty update is providing tons of credits, so the “beginner” ships are skipped.
Review that all the rest will make sense as well, increase/decrease while you see that something just does not pay. Even crime should pay ;)

Trading atm. is boring and mandatory, and makes people to quit Elite. Faster you understand this, the better it is for the game, I promise you that.


2. Something to do with friends
Maybe even bigger issue than the economy. There just is nothing to do in the game, especially with friends. Early game is interesting for everyone because it is all new, but soon after you understand that there is no content -> Everyone quits.
Especially there is nothing to do with your friends. Wings update created the toy, now please some content to play with.



There are more issues sure, but I think that these two are the show stoppers for many. I am playing in a gaming community that has ~100 Elite players. I think that more or less everyone has quit the game, and the reason is both or one of these.
 
Welp, your suggestions how to change trading sounds really, really awful in my Ears. Dunno how that should be better then what we have now, but I guess to each his own.

As for what I would want in 1.4: Passanger transport! I so want that.
 
There isn't one.. That's why I'd like one to appear for 1.4 :p

...and we'll get it when satan goes ice skating to work ;)
 
I recommend to test the current implementation.

btw. What are your current assets atm?
Well, I am a trader after all so I test trading all the Time (whit some breaks of doing diffrent stuff here and there). I can confirm that trading on a route with more then 2 Stations works absolutly fine, I after all got up to a T9 (my current asset) trading like that. And I have some other ships in store, and some good cash on the Bank, it really works.
 
Restrict Shield Cell Bank's to one per ship. Or remove them. Either will make PvP balanced again.
And while were at it, make armor actually work as intended and shield internal compartments.

Reasons why something sucks would be better than just saying "sucks". Really not offering much.

I have trade income +400 million. I know it is not much, but I think I can at least say that I have tested it.

I think that trade is in too big role in the game. For example I would be happier if I had 200 million Trade + 200 million Mining in my stats.

Its a station more?

I would welcome some more and better trading mission, the problem is your suggestion of destroying trading without missions. If the only way you can do a damn with trading is mission it destroys independend trading, just always doing what some missions tells me would be horrible and a hughe limitation on what you can do and take away a lot of freedom in trading.

If you just want add some more and better Mission to the game I'm with you, but ruin my profession on the way is not cool ;)
